Yesterday, I thought that I would be fun to try some a new food with the babies. I am really excited about having them enter the next stage of food because I am going to make all my own baby food. A cousin of mine does it and she has really inspired me. I have also done some reading and found some cool recipes to try. You see, I love to cook! I feel that it is one thing that you can do for your family to let them know how much you love them. I also enjoy eating food, probley more than I should. I think that there is nothing better then tasting the first bite of a delicious new recipe.
Anyway, yesterday afternoon I made my first batch of baby food; carrots. I was going to wait until after the holidays to begin adding solid foods in to their diet but I was so excited I couldn't wait. I decided that the must try this new food now. The babies on the other hand had a different idea.
I decided to start with Quinn, who loves to eat food from a spoon. So when he took the first couple of bites with excitement, I felt very encouraged and moved on to the next kid; Jake.
I gave Jake his first bite of carrots and he took it but looked at me with this expression that said what in the world is this? He took the second bite but when I offered him the third the shut his mouth so tightly that I could not get the spoon in. Now remember, this is the kid that is almost 20lbs. So far, he hasn't met any type of food he won't eat. I guess I found the first food he doesn't like.
So then I moved on to Claire. I gave her the first bite and she ate but with much distaste and protesting. I then tried another bite. She pushed most of it out with her tongue and got so upset that she threw-up all over the place. Point taken, you don't like carrots.
I then went back to Quinn, who I thought would take more because he did so well. He too completely refused any more. He must have decided that this was not good food from the protesting of the other two.
Needless, to say their first taste of my lovely home-made baby food did not go as awesomely as I had hoped. I guess I will just have to try again later, maybe after the holidays as I had orginally intended.
