Pancake Saturday

Every Saturday for as long as I can remember, Jeff has been making pancakes for breakfast. It has become a tradition on our house. Jeff has really gotten quite good. And he doesn't just make your standard buttermilk pancakes either.
He has made pumpkin, banana, blueberry, apple, chocolate chip, blue, yellow, green, cinnamon/vanilla, different letters (mostly H's and M's for Hayden) and mom and dad's favorite the cyclops. The cyclops is a pancake with a fried egg in the middle (it is oh so good, mmmm).
All the kids love pancakes! Hayden likes the colored ones and enjoys choosing his color for the day. They babies will eat any pancake that you put in front of them but they really, really like the blueberry ones.
Hayden really looks forward to Saturdays. So much so that by Monday, he is already asking me when it will be Saturday again and when are we going to have more pancakes. And on Friday nights before bed, the last words out of his mouth are usually what color he wants his pancakes to be in the morning.
Here is how it is done.

Today's color was blue (honestly, most Saturdays blue is the color of choice). Mix those pancake well, Hayden. Then Daddy cooks the pancakes on the griddle.
These are special, there is a surprise underneath.
Surprise! H and M for Hayden Mitchell!
Daddy also likes to make abstract pancake art.
Next, its blueberry for Mommy and the babies. Yum!
Look at those berry faces.
Hayden with his special blue letter pancakes. He would not smile nicely and could not be bothered to look away from cartoons.
Enjoy!

Wow, those are some amazing pancakes! I'm so impressed. My pancakes are boring. better not let me kids find out about these cool ones or I'll be forced to be creative in my cooking.

Jen-Thanks for stopping by! I have to say, I've got a pretty "brown thumb" when it comes to growing geraniums or any other plant! Please stop by again--and don't forget my giveaway!

These are just adorable pictures! We have a normal pancake breakfast too on Saturdays!
My kids loved when I make chocolate chocolate chip with homemade whipped cream. MMMMmmm

Will definitely have to try the cyclops! Sounds super yummy!

What a GREAT idea! We have pancake Sundays and sometimes pancakes for dinner, when it's a crazy weeknight. Do you just use food coloring? I have to try that...

Love your blog! I went to the SITS site after visiting yours, and I love that idea! I love comments! I am a nurse, too; that's how I found your site, through blogger's profile. Your babies are all adorable! Great "meeting" you!

Jen, thanks for visiting my blog! I am a critical care nurse, also. I work in the SICU at Christ Hospital, and have been a nurse for 14 years now (THAT is hard to believe...nursing school seems like yesterday). I work two 12hr night shifts a week, but pick up more in the summer when my husband is off (he is a high school math teacher). And don't let the pictures fool you; right now my boys are fighting and arguing, just in time for church. Sunday mornings are oh, so fun :)

What a great tradition to start! I think we may have to do something like that with our family.

I'm Alicia from Momdot.com and wanted to thank you for putting our button on your site! We appreciate it and can't wait for the launch in August!
