So I thought that I would 'trick' him into it. He wanted to use my camera to take some pictures. So I let him, thinking that I would ask him questions about the photos and he would say something funny and it would be perfect blog fodder. It was going to be beautiful, some of my best work ever.
So here is what happened.
Me: Hayden, Why did you take this picture of your doggies?Hayden: Just because I can.
Me: What are they doing?
Hayden: They are just sitting so nicely.
Me: Hayden, Why did you want me to take this picture of you? Why are you holding a dogging in your mouth? What are you trying to do?Hayden: Actually Mom, it is a kitty. And I just wanted this because I wanted it. Don't I look silly! *laughs a big fake belly laugh and runs away*
*sigh* I tried people, I really did.

Excellent attempt.
Mine refuses to perform on command as well.
He is cute. Maybe not what you were looking for, but I think it was a fun interview.
Maybe I will try this - it sounds kind of fun - I wonder if I would get any cooperation.
i think this is a fantastic interview :-)
I like the idea of interviewing the kiddos. My nanny kids are OBSESSED with video feature on my camera, and would (and have) happily performed in front of it for hours. I wouldn't be able to post them, due to the (quite reasonable) request of their mother, but oh, I would certain enjoy them myself!
I hear ya. I tried this with my 4 and 5 yr old. The 5yo (he likes to be weird sometimes) kept answering me with "cow" or some kind of cow answer. My daughter, teh 4yo, wasn't any better. And neither of them would answer very many questions before they ran away.
He's just got his own interview style, that's all! What a cutie pie!
at least he knows what he wants :)
He's still super-cute! My 4 year old is the same way...they are always talking and preforming except when you want them too! lol
He is too smart to be outwitted. That is a good thing.
Kids love to cooperate!
Too Funny!!! LOL
What is it with kids and taking pictures of stuffed animals. My daughter LOVES to photograph her Webkinz....Everytime I leave my camera in arms reach I have numerous crazy pictures!!!! LOL
Hayden cracks me up! He is such a character!
He was totally onto you from the get-go.
You are going to have to be much sneakier than that to get him!
i thought this was perfect! and from what i've learned about hayden from your blog - it sound just like him!!
Maybe it's like that Subway commercial, where the kid is always told 'no, no, no'. Makes sense to me. Random pics? Because he can.
You gave it a go. That's what counts.
Work with what ya got. And it looks like you've got a cute one.
HaHa. This is so great and so accurate. Mine says the funniest things, just never when I can record them. I think I'm going to be a big fan of your blog for 3 reasons:
1) It's fun
2.) You're from MI (where I grew up)
3.) It has paisley on it.
Thanks for the comment over at Cheap Wine and Cookies!
I've tried with Graham as well...and no luck... Hayden did a fabulous job...
adorable children!
Thank you for the welcome :)
Sounds exactly like what my boy would say!
aren't kids cute:)at least you got a lil out of him...keep trying, my 4 yr old niece will actually hold a conversation now...kinda :)
It was a valiant effort!

He's so creative! An interview would've been classic, but these pictures are just as entertaining.
See - YOU think that was a failed attempt, but WE think that was FANTASTIC!
Awesome interview with a 4-year-old boy! I've got one of those too, and it's pretty accurate and realistic.
Both our kids would be so verbose and funny off-the-cuff, but hey - the Performance Thing just doesn't come off sometimes.
He is absolutely adorable!! What a sweetie :)
He is all male......not that different than answers I get from the guys in my life.
I love the last picture the most and the comment is priceless.
Hahaha. Well at least he answered you and didn't say,"Oh Mom!" all annoyed. But that might be the teenage years where that happens. . .
Well, you had good intentions!
He's a stinker :)
He's on to you and is already trying to avoid giving you embarrassing things to flaunt in front of his future girlfriends. Smart kid. :)
