It Must Be A Boy Thing

It is a beautiful day here. It really feels that spring is here even though the trees are bare and the grass is still brown. But that really doesn't matter because we can go outside to play.

We can play outside until our hearts are content and 4 lovely children can run off all the energy that they have been storing up all winter.

One things that we regularly do when we can go outside is go for a walk up to the mail box. It is the perfect distance to make extra sure that all the energy is drained from my children.

I have a triplet side-by-side stroller and the kids take turns riding, yes even Hayden needs to ride. According to him, this walk is so long (NOT) and he gets so tried that one of the babies must walk so that he can rest.

We were on our way back to the house and Hayden was booted out of the stroller to walk because the babies were getting tired. So he decided to run the rest of the way home. This is all well and good because we don't really live on a busy road and I can see him most of the way expect for on one bend.

As I come up the the bend, getting ready to make the turn, I am blinded by the sun gleaming off something white. A snow pile, perhaps? A white rock, maybe?

Just as I realize that it is the stark whiteness of my eldest son's bare butt as he has dropped trow to take a pee right in the middle of the road, not one but two cars come driving up the road.

Well, I did what any other mother would have done. I parked the stroller, scooped up my half naked, pants around the ankles, peeing child and brought him to the safety of the side of the road, smiling and waving as I went.

Once the cars are gone and pants were returned to their correct position around the waist, Hayden looks up at me eyes full of pride and says,
"See Mom, I peed just like Grandpa showed me, like a really big boy!"

To Hayden's Grandfather's that taught him it was alright to pee in the woods, Thank you so much and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. But I think he may need some more lessons so that when he has to pee it is actually IN the woods.

That is so funny! Boys are totally crazy when it comes to that stuff. I don't know what I'm going to do. In this case, I totally would have done what you did.

I'm sure it's just a matter of time he starts writing his name in the snow/sand/dirt... I'm sure you'll know who to thank for those little tricks as well :)

This is absolutely GREAT and YES it is a boy thing!!!! Growing up I don't think my brothers knew where the bathroom was....They would go outside to pee every morning....usually cause I was in there...LOL!!!! There was another bathroom so I really think they just like the cold air on their willy!?!?!?!? I guess I will never understand...

Oh, the things I get to look forward to. :) Think about when you have two little boys peeing outside with Hayden!

And that is precisely why we haven't taught our boy that he can pee outside like a really big boy!

Hi, Jen-- I love the title of your blog! I felt that way with just my 1 child, LOL! The story of your trip to the mailbox is hilarious. While my son never peed "in public," he did teach his whole preschool class the medically correct term for his boy parts, or part, I should say! Thanks so much for visiting my blog, DomesticMuse, and I hope you'll come back soon! Cheers!

That is hilarious but my worried self couldn't get the thought of "middle of the road" and "bend with cars coming." You must live in the boonies, I don't even let my little guy go too close to the edge of the sidewalk. Ha.

HAHAHAHAHA! Aaron even laughed at that one!

Oh gosh. That is so funny and also embarrassing. I remember when my friends and I used to moon cars driving by when we were little. Needless to say, we got into trouble. Even though one of our dads taught us.

Thanks for coming by again! Glad to have a new blog friend. Also, I LOVE your blog design.

Hilarious. And yes, definitely a boy thing. Many times has my son actually gone outside to pee instead of merely walking to the bathroom! And, of course, pants just can't be unzipped...they are always down at the ankles. Good thing those little butts are so cute!

Way to go, Hayden! Oh, that's hilarious. And, what a calm, cool and collected mommy you are. Takin' the boy stuff in stride. High five.

Oh boy, That's really cheesing me off right now! Some -er'm- older relatives have taught Sonny that it's okay to pee on the grass instead of using the bathroom. This, to my way of thinking, is NOT toilet training. It's training a kid to pee on the grass like a common hound. Geez it makes me mad.

Oh this is so funny! A bit scary because of the cars, but the comment! Made my day!

That's a boy thing and wouldn't it be funny if your son was mentioned in a blog post as a funny event that someone saw that day. LOL

My kids love peeing outside. I have to control them or they'd do it in our backyard daily.

The middle of the road?! hahaha

I remember the first time Jake did that. I look up and see him, pants around ankles, t-shirt up to his armpits happily peeing and waving to people walking by.....FACING the road. Yup..it's a boy thing.
