Easter Dresses Can Be For Boys Too, Right?

All you mothers out there with daughters, you have been holding out on me. Why did you not tell me about this? Why did you keep this from me? I thought that we were better friends and bloggy buddies. You so should have warned me about this. I so needed to be warned about this!

What in the world am I rambling about? Well the simply adorable Easter/Spring dresses that are out there for little girls.

You see, I knew that they were out there but I didn't really KNOW that they were out there. I have been mainly confided to the boys section of the stores.

Claire is the only little girl in the family, not only in our family but in the extended family as well. So a lot of her clothes were gifts or donated from friends who had little girls (LOVE me some hand-me-downs).

I really didn't have to do a whole lot of shopping for her and when I did, I did it on Ebay or through yard sales. With 4 kids, this is really the way to go and bedsides, I want my kids to be able to play in their clothes and not have to worry about ruining them. So I really was not aware of all the little girl clothes that were out there, until now that is.

For Christmas, the babies were given some clothes that would not fit them so I was able to take them back to Macy's and get store credit. I found this delightful. I was going to use this credit to buy the babies some nice Easter clothes.

I had planned to get one out fit for each baby.
I had planned to get an out fit for 2 boys and 1 girl.
I had planned this, until....

I walked into the Children's section at Macy's and was accosted by all the pink, floral, lacy, frilly, over the top cute, dainty, beautiful little girl dresses and the shoes, don't even get me started on the shoes.

They seriously took me hostage and I just couldn't leave. Really, I couldn't. I was surrounded. Each one I picked up was more beautiful than the last and Claire just needed to have one or so.

I left the store with 4 'outfits' as planned, ok not exactly as planned but you weren't there. I now hope that a good rummage through all the hand me down boxes will produce something for the boys to wear. Unless of course, you think that the boys could wear a dress.......

My other hope is that Claire will agree to wear the darling white patent leather bow shoes that I also got her instead of her usual choice, Jeff's shoes.

Oh Jen, I also find I just buy the necessary for the boys, but for my little Princess - oh gosh, the cute stuff is just EVERYWHERE!

Just imagine my situation. I have TWO girls. It's a good thing that you did not make a return to Gymboree. I was soooo easily sidetracked in there!

No girls here ... yet. I have often tried to bribe william with video games if he would let me dress him up with a cute dress. He never goes for it.

As the mother of four girls (two of which are identical twins) I can literally get high on the fluffy, yummy, sweetness that personifies little girl clothes. I mention the identical twins because on special occasions cuteness is exponentially increased when it's double like that.

In all seriousness, we should seriously chat about some hand-me-downs... I just gave away a ton of cute stuff to Goodwill... I'd be happy to send a little fluff your direction next time!!

I, too, have been victimized by the frilly, froofy Easter dresses. They just fluff out at you mockingly. Ugh! (love Claire's shoes...they will be darling with her Easter attire!)

I never cared about cutsie girly clothes... until I had a girl... I'm dangerous in the Carter's store...

Sorry, I would have warned you...but I thought you knew.

I'm loving the shoes!!!

As far as boys Easter clothes go, I had the same problem with boys clotes this year. The Easter suits for boys at Target made my ovaries fall out and roll around on the floor for a while. Fortunately they jumped back in, just in time for me to see the girls jammies.

Sure, have the boys wear dresses! You could turn a few heads and leave a lasting impression wherever you go :)

Little girl Easter dresses and Christmas dresses are some of my favortie things!

Little girl clothes are a definite weakness of mine! With dresses, then you need bows, shoes, and depending on Abigail's mood a purse. Just wait until they start putting out all the adorable swimsuits.

Of COURSE little boys can wear dresses. Or you can make Claire look so cute and spring-y that no one will look at the boys, so it really doesn't matter if they aren't all dressed up for Easter right?

Don't worry, she will soon be choosing the white patent leather shoes for every occasion. Maggie loves to wear her black Mary Janes with EVERYTHING, including footie pjs.

Little girl stuff is insanely adorable. Did you get her a hat? Have I opened up a can of worms? ;)

Yes, shopping for girls is wayyyy too much fun! I recently went through my kids spring/summer stuff and realized that my boys had about 2 outfits a piece and Melody had over 13 dresses alone!

I only have a boy, but I see all those little cute dresses and I drool.

So cute.

if i ever left my house, shopping for my girls (and honestly, james too) would surely be the death of me.

just another reason to have a little chica. sigh. i am so torn...

Seriously, I adore little girl clothes. I was in Macy's just a couple of days ago myself and saw all of the dresses. It took amazing restraint on my part not to walk out of there with half of the section.

Ok, if I didn't have girls I would have cried each time I walked by the girls section. :)

Now that the girls don't wear "cute" clothes anymore I get a little bummed when I walk by the little girl section and can't stop and by anything. Sniff sniff.

Too cute! Wish I'd get to shop for a girl...

If I ever have a girl, I think I will have to amputate my hands so that I can not reach for the credit cards because a disaster Hurricane Katrina style will hit my house.
Actually, I will probably end up not having a house.
I saw my niece's Easter dress and couldn't believe what she picked up for 18 dollars at Target. It looked haute couture from a high end boutique for a 1 year old.
The boys, they get stuck with sweater vests and mini blazers that you just can't get in pink with flowers! It's not fair!

I don't see the problem. Then again, I put my hair clips in my son's hair, so .....

sorry to have left you out of the loop. it's not a loop really - it's more of a trap!!!

little girls clothing and accessories are WAY better than little boys.

here's a heads up for you: my princess went through a stage from 2-4 where she would only wear purple. hopefully, claire will avoid that.

That is too funny! I only have a boy but I always oogle the cute girls stuff. Most stores have a way better girls selection than boys.

too funny! I know...I haven't had much need to buy anything too frilly for my lil girl yet - and it seems each time I do - someone beats me and buys her something that I feel obligated to put her in (or my mom wants to sew something - which is great - but I want one of those beautiful fancy frilly dresses for her!! haha!)

If someone gives me a reason to really need to dress her up..watch out! I'm going all out!! frills and lace! :-)

I can see Claire has her own sense of style. hehe Comfortable, athletic.

I don't get to shop in the cute girls' section. I'm so jealous!!

Our little baby is gonna be SO spoiled, and I always said I would never spoil a child. So much for that plan. She is a total princess and she LOVES shoes. Hello? She's not even 18 months yet. But the girl knows what she likes.

I hear ya on the girlie stuff. My addiction can only be fed by going to Goodwill and other thrift stores. Usually they have enough good stuff that even the REALLY good stuff is dirt cheap. I get tons of frill, fluff, and lace for just a few dollars. It's like getting your fix... ON SALE! (which of course just spurs me on to keep getting more deals, and more deals, and more deals...)

I'm usually suckered in by the cute girl clothes, too. But I must say that this year both the boys got full on suits (from ebay) that are to die for! Because my sister is getting married the weekend after Easter. I tried them on last night and they were SO STINKING CUTE in their little black suits!

Jo-Jo said...

Oh how lucky you are to go shopping for a little girl! Boys get cheated but my mom did buy the boys little Easter suits! Darling! Most of my kids clothes are hand me downs to and now that Riley is three the hand me downs have stopped! WHAA!

Well, at least she won't get her toes stepped on when she is hunting for Easter eggs.

The brown shoes are nice, but I'll bet that the white will definately look better ")

Oh, I really love the adorable stuff they have for little girls too!

Don't even get me started on little girls' clothes! I bought Pickle her first Easter dresses when she was in utero--and I've never stopped since!

Can't wait to see some pics of her in her dresses!!

My youngest is the 7th in a line of female grandkids so, I never have to buy her clothes except...when it come to ocassion-wear. That's when we bust out and get her something that is uniquely hers:-)

Oh, the loveliness that is a little girls' Easter dress.

A matching bonnet, little white gloves, a tiny purse, those sweet little shoes.

Until, that is, she turns into a tween, and has a definite opinion of what she will and will NOT wear for Easter...

Enjoy it while you can, sista!

She is going to look darling!! I can't wait to see pics of the dress.

I totally know how you feel! I have 3 boys and 1 girl and my husband accuses me of spending more time in the girls section at stores shopping for girlie-girl clothes than I do for the boys.

I love the picture...goodness, she is a doll!

I couldn't get the video in your other post to work...I just kept seeing a video of someone's bed with some guy speaking in another language (and no I haven't been hitting the vodka...that is seriously what I saw and heard!)

Well, I cannot say that I ever had this problem because I only have boys. I can, however, understand that once you step into the world of beautiful dresses you could easily be overwhelmed!

In response, I created a page Simple & Affordable Little Girls' Easter Dresses For Spring & Summer. I think the dresses on this page are adorable for Easter or for any other day in a little girl's life and hope that my page helps some Mom who is struggling with the multitude of choice in dresses.

Now if there was only such choice for little boys!
