To continue with my week of guest poster, today's post is written by Em from Life, Liberty and the Pursuit.
Em is an awesome mother of two little boys. Her youngest was diagnosed with PKU at birth.
I just adore Em. I love the way that she brings up issues and makes me think about things with her 'Friday's Food For Thought' posts. She also educates me about what is going on in the world. I am terrible about current events and Em is fabulous about it. I know if there is something that is going on and I need to know about it, Em will bring it to me in the blogosphere.

Gather 'round dear Jen readers, I have a confession to make. One so grand that I fear comment repercussions on a level equal to me telling you that my almost four-year-old still occasionally uses a paci.
That's a hypothetical controversial example by the way. I would never risk the future shape of my son's teeth to guarantee a long-night's sleep for me.
Never.
Well maybe.
Anyway, you get what I'm saying. But I'm confident you're a group who will embrace my admission with empathy and an open mind, because with the following sentence, I'm taking the chance of unleashing the wrath of mommy bloggers (or moms who happen to blog) upon my soul...
I'm Team Jacob.
If you don't understand that declaration, you're part of the Twilight Uninitiated, an association I was once proud to be a charter member of - that is, until this past December. In a desperate act of trying to find some kind, any kind, of escape from the Holiday madness, I finally broke the seal on my boxed set of the first three books, compliments of the incredible ladies of SITS.
I know.
It was not from lack of absolute gratitude, believe me. I would give Heather and/or Tiffany my last bottle of wine if they requested. High sacrifice indeed. No, I was scared. Not of vampires or werewolves or over-dramatic teen angst, but that the series surely could not live up to the hype.
See, I had been burned once before, by my best friend and my mother, over the desperate need to see "Out of Africa" (Google it whippersnappers) when I was just a babe in the pop-culture-hype woods. I wasn't going to expose myself to that feeling of crushing disappointment again.
So it was with great trepidation that I cracked the spine, flipped to page one and allowed myself to be consumed - it's a short journey from eye rolling at screaming Robert Pattinson fans to being five minutes late to my much-needed, much-wanted hair appointment last week because I HAD to swing by Target to grab "Breaking Dawn." Curse you Walmart for being sold out.
And there it now sits on my bedside table - all shiny and black, white chest piece beckoning - open me, devour me, ignore the boys and laundry because of me. Be patient my precious, quiet time is coming.
Delayed gratification of the highest magnitude.
I know I'm way late to the party (typical me), and I've heard nasty rumors that this Jacob fan might be disappointed with Bella's choice. But I'm positive that, that disappointment will not extend to the magician who is Stephenie Meyer - that chick can spin a yarn - ironic really, since yarn is the last product on the planet that hasn't sold out to the marketing machine that is "Twilight."
So in the coming days, if my posts are short and not even close to being sweet, and my comment love all but dries up, forgive me - I'm off to Forks to get my teen angst on.

I had to take the books out of town with me so I could actually read them without putting them down!! Enjoy! :)
You're too sweet Jen - thanks for the wonderful intro. I am laughing that my current event reference today is a little behind the times. Per usual, I'm blaming it on my kids :-)
Hope your busy week is going well!!
Hi Jen,
I am Michele Renee and I too am in awe of your life with 4 kids and the career. Also, I LOVED your cat pictures in Dec.
Em, we are joined at the hip on the Twilight. I have read them, after I delayed it (but I have seen the movies) and I would go for Jacob, and his warmth, not for the cold, rich one who would watch me sleep at night. Although I do like the cold one's face.
i am speechless. what about the pacifier? can't we go back to that??? i think sucking a pacifier until age 10 is fine (but not a day more!). oh em. OH EM!
i may need some time. this is huge.
; )
Im team Jacob too. So it's all good for you and me. Eclipse was my fav of the 4 books. and I am so glad you finally joined the party. Its a good party.
I puffy=heart Jacob!!!
So happy to welcome you into the fold... Can't wait to hear if your opinion changes after reading Breaking Dawn...
I'm all Robward...errr... Edward...
Oh I have only read the first one - but I will get to the rest. Someday. But I did love Out of Africa - have the DVD.
Oh, that's so funny. I had to read them to see what the big deal was. I could get killed for this, but I don't think they are all that great.
I almost NEVER say this, but I actually think the movies are better. Faster paced.
I'm Team Jacob, too. I don't see the relationship with Edward- it's just attraction, where with Jacob, there's an actual friendship to back it up.
For someone who's not a big fan, I have a lot to say about it! LOL
I am in the uninitiated.
Oh enjoy! I did not read the books until after I saw Twilight on video.. I remember thinking, well what is the fuss about.. then I read the books.. oh sooo good!
I went through a time where I was leaning towards Jacob, but by the time you are done.. you might just switch teams :)
oh don't do it! I like to think that Breaking Dawn never happened :)
LOVE the books thanks to those same ladies and Leigh Anne of Lulaville BUT since I don't enjoy looking at either Jacob or Edward very much I guess I have been on Team Solo :)
I vowed with every songle fiber in my body that I would NEVER be part of anything Twilight. Until I got bored on January 23rd and watched the fricking movie. 5 times. And now I'm just confused because I think that you really do need to read the book first. But I'm not about to go buy it. So I'm hoping I can find a "loaner" copy somewhere. Of course, I now want to see New Moon.
Damn it....I never thought I would say those words.
Cat - I totally forgot to add this to the post, I hate not being to edit on the fly. A neccessity for my posts usually.
I have since viewed "Out of Africa" (again and again). My first experience was wasted on a teenager who was enamored with the likes of "The Goonies." Also a great flick, but not up to Streep/Redford snuff, you know? It's now part of my collection as well, along with the music.
It might take me a while, but I do eventually learn.
I was so like "I am NOT going to be sucked into the whole Twilight thing" that I refused friends offers of loaning me the books.
Then my Mother in Law loaned me her copies (She's 72 lol!) and I was out of new books to read so I cracked open the first book and started on the journey.
I read all four books in a week! I was totally and utterly hooked! Lol... And FYI...I'm team Jacob too!
Oh Em.....we may have to talk about this. I bought the original Twilight on my way home from Wisconsin and you know what? I can't get into it. It's not speaking to me. I'm half-way through and I don't think I'll finish....
are you mad?
And yes, it's totally okay with that paci thing. One day he'll hand it over and it will be done. Suck away and sleep away is what I say.
If there's something I'm missing about Twilight - please explain it to me. Slowly. I'm obviously a little slow.
And wow to Jen. She's like a superhero.
:-)
Enjoy your books!
True confessions...
a year ago when I was still working full time I took off 4 days from work because I had a little cold.
Really little.
Like, I totally could have still gone to work, little.
But instead I read every single one of the Twilight Books in those 4 days.
I have to say...they were the best 4 days I have spent in YEARS!
I was right there with you about the paci thing, ready to empathize and then you throw out that Jacob crap! And here I was thinking you were cool! ;)
When I got to the last 50 pages of Breaking Dawn, I went to a restaurant and sat at the bar and drank wine and read the end of my life, I mean my book in peace. It was wonderful and I highly reccommend it!
(Hey Jen, when you get back, come on over to me lil ol blog. I've got a surprise waiting for you)

I am a late bloomer too. I haven't seen the movies and I am just in book ONE. No team selected just yet. Although I might choose Jacob just to annoy my daughter. LOL
Oh Em, I don't care if your team Jacob or Team Edward I'm just glad you're team Twilight.
I love the title of this post.
I haven't read them and I probably won't ever read them but I think Jacob is HOT so I agree! :D
I could actually read them without putting them down!! Enjoy! :)
Work from home India
I rolled my eyes whenever my teenage sister would go on about Twilight. Finally, in an attempt to bond with her, I put the books on my christmas wishlist. Of course, that was her gift to me... the box set. I put off reading them for a while.
When I finally cracked the binding, i was immediately sucked in. No more eye-rolling from this girl. I immediately finished one book and opened the next. I finished that, but at the end were the first three chapters of the next book, and I couldn't resist reading those. So I dove right into the next book, because I had to, I had already read the first three chapters. I read through all four books, plus midnight sun, in about 6 days. I'm in love. I'm totally Team Edward, but I DO so love Jacob.
That woman certainly can tell a story!
I thought I was slow getting on the Twilight bandwagon, but you are downright pokey, Em. :)
LOL I am a member of Twilight Uninitiated. My daughters both love it, but I can't get past the fact that it's vampires with love interests.
