Right Now

Well, it is now a new month and a new year. It really doesn't feel any different to me. Yesterday, was really nothing special and today is just another day.

We didn't stay up late to watch the ball drop.
We didn't go to a fancy party and share a kiss at midnight.
The kids went to bed at normal time and Jeff and I went to bed early.
But you know what, that is fine.
It is just where we are in life right now.

Someday, we will be able to stay out late and go to a swanky party but right now is not our time. Our time right now is here.

Right now is our time for coloring pictures and playing ball.
Right now is our time for building forts and playing with baby dolls.
Right now is our time for having poppy diapers smeared all over our couch.
Right now is the time to take a walk.
Right now is the time for us to have a five year old who started kindergarten and to have three 2 year olds.
Right now is the time for us to just enjoy our children and have fun as a family.
Right now it is time to just be a mommy and a daddy.

I don't know what the next year will bring or what the next decade has in store for us. But you know what, where ever it takes us is really fine with me. I have hopes and dreams for the years to come but if they don't all come to be, that is fine too.

As long as we are together as a family, then nothing else really matters. My family is the key to my happiness (and craziness) and that is all I will ever need.

This is an old picture of us but it was the first one taken of us as a family of six.
Therefore, it will always be my favorite family photo.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! We didn't do anything "special" for New Year's either... Hayden went to bed at normal time, I went to bed at normal time, and my husband went to bed at his normal time (he goes to bed later so he did stay up until 2010).

But it was great... and it was us.

Again, Happy New Year!

And look, no hangover!!

I made it until 11, which is 12 East Coast time - totally counted :-)

Happy New Year dear Jen!!

As a mother of four, including twin boys I can say you are so right. Enjoy them. They really do grow up too fast and as you know they are blessing. There is a season for everything...enjoy the season you are in.

I love that picture!!

Yeah, we ran in the new year watching a movie and then going to bed a bit after 12 -- not even a kiss for us. But it was relaxing. :)

Happy New Year to you! I feel exactly the same. My biggest gift was all three sleeping through the night last night. I am loving my family but this next year with three two year olds has me a little scared.

It is kind of funny how one day can make you feel like you "have" to go out and have fun!!

Happy New Year Jen!

Happy New Year, Jen!

You're so right; there is a season for everything in our lives. Right now your season revolves around your babies, and that is perfectly fine. You'll have plenty of time for swanky parties later...

I can't even remember the last time we were out on New Years Eve. I'm over that crap anyway. Maybe in my 40's.

Very well said. We had a similar "non-New Year New Year" but that is right where we are right now. Love the sentiment of this!

Hear, hear! We actually did stay up until midnight, but only because we had a lot of chores to catch up on after the holidays. I realized the ball had dropped and turned to my hubby and said, "I guess since we're up we could at least kiss," so we did. Maybe it wasn't swanky or romantic, but it was, as you say, where we are right now. We're crazy busy keeping up with this family, but we still take time to stop in the middle of the chaos for just a minute to reconnect with each other.

Happy New Year to you & yours.

Happy New Year!!!!!!

We only have a 6 yr old and right now it's all about the same stuff for us too. And that's cool by me. Home is where I want to be when the ball drops. I waited for the ball drop so I could go back to sleep :)

I've always loved that pic of you guys!!!!

I am with you there sister! We didn't go to a fancy party, and we were in bed when the ball dropped... but that's just where we are right now and I'm o.k. with that. :o)

The girls and I made it to midnight.

Shane, on the other hand, was in bed fast asleep by 10:30.

Hope 2010 is another fabulous year for you guys!

How funny!! Tim and I were just talking about how much things have changed for us in the last decade and then I said, "can you believe in 2020 the kids will be 13 and 15?" and he said, "Yeah, we'll actually be able to go out for New Year's Eve and they can stay home by themselves". It made me kinda sad...that's only 10 more years away. I know it'll go by quickly too.

I love the family picture...I can easily see why it's your favorite!

Yep time and season for everything. Hope you have a wonderful 2010

Nothing special for New year's here either. We just kind of chillaxed and set off some "fireworks". Bought them at a discount store (you know the one) and my hubby worked so no kissing at midnight for me.
I love your little family of six and I really enjoyed this post, cause being together is what it's all about. Happy New Year Jen.

There is plenty of time to go out and get all fancy on new year's eve. But our little ones will only be little for so long. Time to enjoy it!

Happy new year!!

Those are beautiful sentiments you wrote, and so very true. Our New Year's Eve was just like yours, and I don't think I'd have it any other way. Great picture too!

Thanks for stopping in and saying hi. Love that you were there! Thanks for the encouragement on the "pounds"! I need all that I can get!

I so hear you. I have a post swimming around in my head about "twenty years from now..." how I'll be able to sleep late but never get bitty-body snuggles, how I'll get to go out on a date but never with my 8-year-old son. I think there are SOME things I won't miss (like getting poop smeared on the couch? Uh, yeah, i wouldn't miss that) but you're right... it's all about appreciating the stage you're in right now.

Happy New Year. You comments are so right on. I sometimes lose sight of the fact that all too soon I will join the parties, etc. and right now I need to enjoy my little kiddos as much as I can.

I have not gone out to a real party for New years in 16 years! Crazy!

Glad you still enjoyed yourself, no matter how you rang in the new year :)
