Random Venting: Headless Baby and Time

Did this day kick any one else's butt? It sure did ours. It also felt like it went on and on, forever. It seemed like bedtime would never get here. The kids were all off all day too. They didn't know if they were coming or going, sleeping or eating, playing or napping.
This is Jake at about 10:30am. He just couldn't go anymore and fell asleep in the chair. Of course for his body it was really 11:30am and we should have been eating lunch and then going down for a nap. Poor baby!

Stupid time change! I just don't get it. Why do we need the time change any way? Because being a parent isn't hard enough, there are now 2 guaranteed days a year where our young kids are going to be cranky and off.

I used to love the fall time change, an extra hour of sleep, meant that I could stay up an extra hour later. Now it means the kids have to be up an extra hour later and I will be awake at a seemly ungodly hour. What it really comes down to is that this is cutting into my mommy time and that is just not right.

The kids also seemed a bit more mischievous today than normal. Getting into and doing more things that they shouldn't. Hayden especially. Here is a sample of his handy work.
Hayden: "Look, Mom! Look, I ripped the head off the baby." (not even trying to hide it)

Me: "Hayden, that is not very nice. You broke Claire's baby. Why did you do that?"

Hayden: "I ripped the head off because I wanted to see the skeleton and I had to look inside the neck to see it"

Me: speechless. How does one really argue with that?

I am just glad that tomorrow is a new day and hopefully things will be back to normal or at least as normal as it gets around here, headless baby and all.

I hate the time change too. It messed me all day.

I love Hayden's reason for breaking Claire's doll!!

Well, on the day that he graduates from Medical school I would for sure get that pic blown up (with the reason for it embossed ON the picture)

Maybe he'll be a doctor?

Obviously no political aspirations in his future - he didn't lie about it.

I feel your fall back pain!!

Oh, my, tell me about it.

That extra hour of sleep you got? Yeah, that meant an extra hour of work for me.

I was so off today, after sleeping until 1pm and eating a birthday dinner at my MIL's. (Homemade carrot cake, too...yum).

However, by 4:30pm, I was ready to go back to bed. No such luck. It's now 8:55p, and I am off to dreamland.

Talk to you later!

We've been off all day too- the littlest diva is wiped out after her party and is sound asleep and it is just 8 here!
Love Hayden's explaination, too funny.

I think the orginial reason for the change was the farmers but...now it just seems annoying:-(

Oooh, I can't wait to see what kind of freaks you attract from Google search on this one!!

I wish we could sit the kids down and explain the concept of sleeping that extra hour....*SIGH*

The kids weren't too bad today... bed time and nap time happened... at odd times for sure... It probably helped that I called in sick to work.. I usually work every Sunday.. so it was a treat to have Mommy around...

I loved living in Arizona because they did not observe daylight savings time. No time change there. It was true bliss in that regard.

Oh my, on looking for the skeleton. It took me years t convince my girls that skeletons were not scary and that they had one inside of them, that it was their bones. Some of them still look at me sideways when it comes to this topic.

Tomorrow will be better, right?

You have to hand it to Hayden...that's pretty smart!
Hope tomorrow is better!

Time change thingy is a government conspiracy to make sure we're extra tired and can't keep a better eye on them. Or maybe not. But maybe!!

Fall isn't bad, but the spring one
?? UBER HARD!!!!

Love your blog!

OH, I remember the days of hating the time change. The girls would be up earlier than normal...and unlike the rest of the population, the Spring forward seemed to work better for us.

Love the search for the skeleton. I might need to send you some of my homeschool links so that you can get him some science manipulatives :-)

What an adorable picture of your little sleeping dude! I agree. The whole daytime savings thing messes with parents big time! It's useless in our modern society (if it was ever truly useful to begin with) and it's time for it to go bye bye.

Oh, I feel for you. The time change last year when the kids were 2 kicked my butt. It seriously felt like the longest day of my life....I think that was the name of my blogpost I did about the day! This year was much better.

Yep - messed with us too. But, at least the kids were actually tired at bedtime.
Was he disappointed there was no skeleton?

Looks like the baby had his head ripped off AND got a kick to the gut.

As a home school mom, this would have been the high light of my day, and I would have just checked science off for the week...hee hee.

Hayden's reason sounds pretty good to me. Enquiring little mind mommy! Do you know that we do not have daylight saving time - we go one time zone throughout the year. It is a pity though, because in summer it is light really early and you could start an hour later and have more time with your kids in the evening.

Please read my strongly worded letter to Mr. Time Change Inventor. I hate him.

Sounds like you've got a pretty smart kiddo there.

OMG! My kids were the same way! I hate the time change...it gets dark so early! Cayden went around crying all evening because he thought he should be in bed!
