Plans, The Only Certain Thing Is That They Change. Edited to add Giveaway Winners

So this was the plan. Since I have to work the day after Thanksgiving, we were not going to travel and see our out of town relatives. We are going to stay in town and have Thanksgiving here. I was going to pull out the 20lb turkey that has been in the freezer since last year, chip off the ice and cook it. We were going to host all the family at our house and we were going to have an awesome Thanksgiving.

Not only was I going to cook the most awesome turkey in the world. But I was going to make parsnip pudding, brussels sprout gratin, my sister was going to bring cheese potatoes, my sister in law was going to bring carrots and peas and jello for the kids and Jeff was going to make his famous pumpkin pie. There was going to be mulled cider and wine. I am drooling just thinking about all the goodness. Yum!

But then my Mom and Dad decided to go to Iowa to see my mom's side of the family. My brother drew the short stick and now has to be on call all day out of town. My sister can't decide where she is going to be.

So fine. I decided that I would invite other people to come and share in our awesome feast. But you know what? When you call people a week before Thanksgiving most people already have plans. But no worries, I am still going to cook up a storm. There is going to be a enough food to feed a small army. So if you are in need of a place go on Thanksgiving, stop by. We will have plenty of food, the house will be warm and cozy and the wine will be flowing.

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

Now, I am not really sad about everyone changing their plans or having to work or go other places. It really is fine with me. As long as they are happy and full and with people they love, all will be well. And a Happy Holiday will be had by all. But seriously, there is going to be enough left-overs here to last us until spring. Thank goodness, the turkey left a pretty big spot to fill in the freezer.

My SIL loves to "do" Thanksgiving. And I *do not*. Also, they don't eat leftovers, so we end up with all of them. WIN WIN!!

Oh that sounds like fun. If we lived...well, if I knew where you lived and didn't have plans already (plans my mom would kill us if we broke), that would be so fun. And sounds super yummy, too.

We get to bring cheesecake. I'm not sure if anyone realizes we can cook things other than desserts. Well my MIL doesn't think I cook so probably not. lol

I am cooking too but NO WINE FOR ME! Drink a glass OR 3 for me!! I am nauseous and the thought of touching a raw bird makes me want to hurl BUT I am thankful for it! Have a great Thanksgiving! It will be me, my 7 children and my parents. The Captain is away :(

We're flying solo here too.

It's a little lonely, but I'm excited to make exactly what I want to eat. I actually skipping the turkey and making cornish game hens instead so that I don't have 15 pounds of leftovers.

Have a great holiday.

Every year, I totally wish we could just skip over the main event and hit the left overs.

NOTHING better than cold turkey and a slice of cold stuffing, smooshed together between two heavily mayoed slices of sticky Wonderbread.

I might have to sneak in tomorrow night for a midnight snack before all the men get at it :-)

Happy Thanksgiving dear Jen!!! Enjoy every delicious second. And then take a long nap.

Mmm, turkey noodle soup, turkey pot pie, turkey divan. The leftover possibilities are endless. Oooh, and you must enlighten me(us) about brussels sprout gratin. Brussels sprouts are my 5 year old's favorite vegetable. Thanks. And have a blessed Thanksgiving. Ah, and one more thing... I love that you vlog your winners. I love that you vlog period. It is so nice to see your children just being themselves. They are simply darling.

Sorry your plans got foiled...but that's so great that you're going ahead with it anyway! I work tonight, so Matt and his sister are cooking...but if we weren't having his fam over, I'd make a beeline to your house :) Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Oh, if we only lived closer, we'd definitely show up at your door! Being Canadian, we already had our Thanksgiving last month so we have no plans this weekend and would give anything for a great meal!

Sigh...

We'll be drooling over your amazing sounding dinner from afar. :)
