We're In The Van, Let's Chat

I got all the kids in the van to run a quick errand (who am I kidding, with 4 kids there is no such thing as a 'quick' errand). As, I buckled myself in and started the car, Hayden wanted to chat (as he usually. I just don't know what it is, there is just something about the van that brings the conversation out of that kid).

Hayden: Mom?

Me: Yes, Hayden

Hayden: Mommy, I am bored!

Me: What? How could you be bored? We just got into the car.

Hayden: I don't know, I just am.

*small pause like he is thinking things over*

Hayden: Mom, what does bored mean?

Me: Oh, Hayden!

Oh yes, somehow the van also brings out the talking tongue of The Little Miss.

Seriously, I have one child and getting out of the house takes more effort than I used to put into preparing for a weeklong vacation. I can't imagine FOUR!

Tee hee. The things they pick up. What a sweet heart.

Kids are funny. Where in the world did he get the word from? I know I haven't used that word in ages, and you probably haven't either! :)

I'm just wondering when you are going to write your book! You have so much classic material! This gave me a nice little chuckle!

That's so funny! They just hear other people say things, and they'll say them too, no matter what they really mean.

"Bored" is like a cuss word in our house! ha!

I am "friends" with my husband's 13 year old cousin on Facebook. I have noticed that the most common status of anyone under the age of 15 is "I'm bored."

I think the reason kids like to chat in the van / car is that they are in the back and you are in the front and they can't see your face. That way it is easier to confide things they otherwise might not have. And not so intense. At least that is what I found with my kids as they grew up.

Okay, so first off, you get mad prop for attempting an errand with four kids. And you get another one for such a cute kid!

And that is why my van looks like a mobile hamster cage. Really, the books and papers and snacks. It's my effort to prevent such conversations. I might mention, it doesn't help.

You Hayden is such a cutie. I love to hear the converstations the two of you have.

Thanks for wishing Nicole a happy b-day.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

This reminds me of when my son told me he had a headache. I asked him where it hurts he said, "right here," and when I looked, he was pointing to his nose.

Car rides are pure torture, and I only have two to deal with... I wish I had a van so I could separate them... they can TOUCH each other in the teeny Toyota... grrrrrrrrr....

LOL! Sounds like something my son Keith would say!
Some kids just have that 'goofy" gene and sounds like Hayden has it too :)

I wish the kids I nanny for would be happy with normal conversations in the car. Sometimes we just chat, but often I find myself driving along telling stories.
All sorts of stories. When I came to work hoarse one day, we decided to back off a bit on the Blythe-talks-constantly method of story telling...

My head nearly exploded with all the chatter from my youngest in the car. Out of the car, he said not a word. Go figure.
