The Pile Hits the Road, Again.

This weekend, we took the pile on the road once again. Every time we do this, I am renewed in the fact that yes we can travel with our children and brought to exhausted tears that yes we can travel with our children.

This time our travels took us to meet a blogger and her family. Ever since I started reading her blog, I have always wanted to meet this blogger and her family. We just have so much in common. The biggest thing being that we both have a set of triplets and out triplets are only 2 weeks apart in age.

Everytime we travel, I learn some new things about my family and the world around us. Here are just a few of the things that I learned this trip.

  • Kids sitting in the back on the van are not huge fans of food being thrown at them.
  • It is NOT funny to take some one's pacifier and then throw it on the floor over and over again.
  • Being a contortionist would really come in handy as a mother, especially in dealing with the things mentioned above.
  • There really needs to be a frequent flier card to McDonald's. I would so fill it up in no time.
  • It is exhausting being a in room with 2 sets of triplets and it can make a person very dizzy trying to keep track of them all.
  • Kids do not appreciate being removed from their car seat for 2 minutes only to be put back in it. There is much protesting involved in this.
  • It is possible for Hayden to play a video game for 5 hours straight and then still want to play it when we get home.
  • The amount of laundry produce on a trip is mind boggling, even though it is still the same number of people that are on the trip as in the house and if those people had stayed home they would still be wearing clothes. But some one adding a car and a suitcase seems to double the amount.
  • A little boy who LOVES the bath tube and everything to do with water can and will HATE the swimming pool and scream, "No No Wawah Wawah!" the whole time that we are at the pool.
  • Hotel beds just call out to be jumped on.

  • Meeting a blogger in real life is truly awesome and not nearly as nerve racking as one would think. It just goes to show that these connections that we form here on-line are real and can survive the cross over into real life.
  • Meeting a blogger in real life is just awesome. Oh, I said that already. Well, it is so awesome that I needed to say it twice.

It warms my heart to see other families traveling with children... and know I'm not alone with the mild agita that goes along with it. :)

Glad you had so much fun!!

How fun!!!!! You are a brave woman, though....you must know that already! We're driving to Tahoe in July for a week's vacation and I'm already dreading it....and it's only a 2-hour drive.

I love the video of all the kids jumping on the bed!!!

Glad you got to meet your blogging friend in real life!!! Very cool!

Oh, soooo fun!!!!

Did you all venture out in public? I would have paid to see that scene in a restaurant. Or, ah, paid to stay far away ;)

Glad you had a great time!

You're very brave.

It must be fun to meet bloggy friends in real life. I haven't tried it yet.

Glad the trip went well.

I love your kids. Watching them jump on that bed was like watching Nat and Anna ... and an extra two little boys Anna's age. It seemed vaguely familiar. I am so glad you got to meet a bloggy friend who has triplets - I hope you were able to relax a little together!

If I had triplets I might become a recluse and never leave the house with them. If I had FOUR kids I would definitely never make it out the door.

So, I'm impressed you travel, and I'm so glad you do!

And your kids are just jumping beans.

That is awesome! I have met a couple of bloggy friends in real life, and I have loved it! Glad you had a good experience.

Your babies are adorable. You know that, I'm sure, but it's still nice to hear...

I am cracking up over the picture of your hubby. That is EXACTLY what Joe looks like every night, immersed in his World.

I can't see your video (cause I'm at work) but I'm glad to hear that meeting bloggers in real life is just as fun as hanging out on the net. :)

Glad you guys had a great time!

I almost met a bloggy friend on our last trip but we couldn't quite get the planets to align...

This sounds like a fanastic (and fantastically draining) trip :)

I love roadtrips with my two boys. When things get rough, I'll just think of you. Hotel bed jumping rules!

That is way cool that you met up with a bloggy kindred spirit.

And, I love the comments about travelling with children. I laughed at each one as I *so* felt your pain!

Can't wait for our road trip this August when we'll be driving out to the east coast, which takes about 18 hours one way. I hope Max can play video games that long! ;-)

Even though I'm the oldest of 7, our family took trips all the time- to the East coast, amusement park, Sunday drives....we had a blast, and I love seeing families on trips!

Very cool that you met a blogger!!

What else are you supposed to do with hotel beds? I can't think of anything.

Hotel beds ARE the best for jumping! I am terrified to take a car trip with just one toddler. You, my friend, are braver and stronger than I. So glad you got to meet a bloggy friend! I haven't yet, but soon...

How fun! That must have been fun for you to meet another mother who truly feels your "pain." Oops, I mean "blessings!" :)

I agree... meeting blog friends for real is totally awesome! I wish we could all meet one day... just one big gathering. Would that not be the most awesomest thing ever?!

Hi - I was just blog-hopping and stopped to leave a few comments.

I have to say I'm a big fan of the TV DVD player. My parents live 8 hours from us, and we make the drive a minimum of 4 times a year. But yes, it CAN be done!

Good for you!
