Its bedtime and that means all it right with the world.
All the kids are soundly sleeping after a fun filled day at school.
See here is Jake sound asleep.
All the kids are soundly sleeping after a fun filled day at school.
See here is Jake sound asleep.

Later this same night at about 3AM, Quinn woke up. He was crying so I got out of bed and went up to him (we had placed him back in his crib earlier). He had lost all of his pacifiers so I gave them back, rubbed his back and he settle back to sleep.
Then at about 5AM, I heard crying again from their room. This time it was Claire. I got up with her, gave her a drink and tucked her back into bed.
As I was walking out of the room, I glanced in Quinn's crib but it was empty. I quickly turned around to look at the chair but it was empty too. I then thought about the door, Hayden used to sleep behind the door when he was this age. But Quinn was not behind the door.
My heart was now starting to beat faster. My sleepy haze was thinning and I began to think. Was the door open when I got to the room? Yes I think it was. So I ran downstairs to look through the house.
I looked in the living room. No Quinn.
I looked in the den. No Quinn.
Perhaps he had crawled into our bed and I had not noticed him.
But he was not there either.
By now my heart was racing. I was on the verge of panic. Were the doors locked? Could he have gotten outside? Had someone broken in the house and taken him?
I was just about ready to wake Jeff up and call the police when I decided to look in his room one more time. As I ran up the stairs, I thought, closet! I had not looked in the closet.
I threw open the closet as quickly and as quietly as I could expecting him to be there but he was not.
Fear and panic were just about ready to take hold of my brain when as I turned around, I saw him. He was curled up under the crib. This little boy ball soundly sleeping under the crib.
I have never been so relieve in all my life. I pulled him out and placed him back in the crib.
And as I walked back downstairs to get a minute or two more of sleep before the whole house awoke, I thought...
Would it be a bad thing to tie him into the crib?

Oh, I would have been terrified. I can't imagine having a climber!
Such cute pics--but OMG I would have had a heart attack!!
One ,when Teddy was about 4, I couldn't find him anywhere in the house or the yard--I was running around screaming for him and I ended up calling 911. Turns out he was in his bed the whole time--just completely under the covers.
How scary!!! Glad he was ok! Sounds like its almost time for a big boy bed!!! hehe
That is so cute!
I have a similar story to when our son was about 2 years old. I thought he had wondered away at lunch time... turned out he had fallen asleep on the floor, up against the couch, with the slip cover skirt covering him up. We had the police searching ditches for him. I was half relieved, half embarrassed!
oh my gosh jen, they are really keeping you on your toes 24 hours a day!
Um, no....tying him to the crib sounds like an excellent idea! Garrett just discovered how to climb out of his crib a couple days ago and that kid is gonna drive me insane. Today at naptime, he kept hopping out of his crib and running over to Landon's crib to wake him up (who has yet to figure out how to climb out of his crib but now it's just a matter of time). So neither of them napped. It sucked, royally.
I'm relieved for you that he was asleep under the crib!! I can imagine the panic you must have felt looking for him. Garrett's scared of his own shadow so I know he'll never leave his own room...LOL!
Oh goodness, my heart was dropping just reading your post...I can't imagine how terrified you must have been! So glad he was safe.
Neither of the ladies EVER got out of their cribs... ever... but they HAVE wandered off since they started sleeping in big girl beds and that will make the heart pound, won't it?
Those pics are precious.
A climber! I would have freaked!!
My daughter was playing in her room one day & it got really quiet so I figured I'd go check on her and figured she must have fallen alseep. I couldnt find her anywhere. I was panicking because there was no way she could have gotten out of her room with a gate. I finally yelled for her and she popped out of her toybox hidden under all the stuffed animals!
My goodness! My heart was racing just reading this.
And, that just can't be comfortable for him...
I imagine you were not able to get back to sleep after that - long day?
Duct tape, staples, rope, whatever. It's all good.
Oh I would have flipped out a bit too...
The joys of having a climber - I had one too!
How freakin scary is that?? I am so glad mine hasnt learned to climb out yet!
Oh man! I would have had a heart attack!
Apparently I had the same tendencies as a little kid. The solution? Tie an old volleyball net over the top of my crib.
I'd have been panicked too. Thank goodness he was okay.
Really cute pictures. They make me sleepy.
What about Velcro? Fuzzy piece on the jammies, sticky piece on the bed.
;-)
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have looked that long before waking the hubby. I give you kudos for keeping it together so long.
It sounds like you will need nightly restraint orders. That means less sleep because you have to do those q 30 min checks. What a pain! How did we survive childhood?
I was in a panic just reading the story. What a little monkey Quinn is!
What is the longest stretch that you get to sleep, before someone is calling you?
ROFL! You just described my John! That child wanders all over their room while he's sleeping! I put up a gate once cause I didn't like shutting the door...until I realized he could get OUT of the gate!
Little something for you over at my place!

Oh gosh Jen, that is so scary.
As I'm reading this, all I can think is, "She has 3 babies to put to bed every night...3 babies...THREE BABIES...and one big boy."
You are amazing. As are your floor-sleeping kids.
How scary, good post though. Those pics are too cute!
Oh how scary.. but funny too
Hi! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! I just started reading yours and it's too cute!
xoxo Baffled...
Oh! I am soo soo sosooosoosossoooo glad my baby hasn't learned to climb out of his crib. He's 20 months...how old are your babies?
I'm hoping it never happens, I can just see him doing devious things out of crib.
Sophie does that, too! I'll come in and find her in a different and unexpected spot. It can be very disconcerting!
Aren't they always sweet looking when they sleep...especially when they stay where they are supposed to be. :o)
I think you handled it relatively well. I myself would have lost it...
My heart started racing just reading that! And, now that I know he was safe and sound (just misplaced!) all along I'm laughing. What a little character.
that's a good solution, either tie him in the crib or put him in a padded room with the door locked. I can't tell you the times I wanted to pad a room and put all my kids in it to sleep together! They could have kept each other company during their nightly adventures. :) Here’s my photo story happy Friday!
Perhaps he's ready for "a big boy" bed since he spends half the night crawling out. My 9 yr old was often found under his bed when he was a toddler.... to each his own, I guess!
That's hilarious! And kind of scary. I have one of those little people too :-)
UNDER! Oh my goodness, what a scare. I'll bet your adrenaline is still flowing!
I don't know how you do it. I can't ever get enough sleep with one kid. Glad you found the little crib break out artist.
I know I would have freaked! Glad all is well. =)
Oh, I would have gone crazy, too! Man, what kids put us through, eh? Glad to hear the little snugglebug was just a little lower to the ground than you'd expected.
Oh my gosh!! Look how big they are!! How old are they? Not too far from Moose's age right (he'll be 2 on July 1)??
We moved Moose to a toddler bed, but he hates it. I want to put him back in his crib. He can't get out like your kiddos! LOL I want to keep him in there as long as possible.
I would have been scared too!
But......my boys were the same. One slept under the bed instead of on it. The other one slept at his door for months. I finally put a baby gate up just because I was paranoid about not hearing them if they walked downstairs and out the front door! This way I knew they were "trapped".
omg, i would have a heart attack!!!
What a post! I think you took us through every emotion possible...fear, panic, relief, and humor.
I think the humor is what I will remember most, though. Finding your boy underneath the crib is really a hoot. It just furthers my conviction that when kids are tired enough, they really can sleep anywhere. :)

My heart still races when I go to bed at night and see that Madalyn is not in her bed. I have to check the top bunk. But usually she has gone to her sister's room.
Maybe he's ready for a big bed??
Holy crap. A parent's worst nightmare! Thank goodness it had a happy ending!
i can only imagine the panic and terror you felt! you did much better than i would have - i would have woken my husband after the quick check of the baby's room!
you could use soft restraints :)
How terrifying!!! You need one of those crib tents. :)
Oh My! That is soo scary. At least when I went in (last week) and saw Ben was not in his crib, he was right there in his sister's! I got them crib tents, and I LOVE them.. they solve so many problems for me (crib chewing, paci/blanket dropping, reaching out of the crib to snatch things off shelves). And, now my kids try to actually zip themselves in when I put them in their cribs:) Highly recommend!
wow! I honestly don't know how...but amazingly neither of mine have climbed out of their cribs yet. Which is a big surprise b/c they are both tall...I'm certain if they really tried, they could easily escape. We'll probably move to toddler beds once we're successfully potty trained...but right now, I am glad they are still contained!
Can't imagine the frantic search, half asleep, looking for him!!
I did the same thing to my mom when I was a kid- scared the crap out of her.
Fortunately, my boy sleeps like a rock and doesn't move.
Can't wait to see you in Vegas.
Can't wait!!!!
T
Scary! B only did it once to me. Luckily B never climbed out of his crib but he did fall asleep under his bunk bed when he was 4 and gave me quite the panic attack until I found him.
OMGosh! I'm glad you found him! What a beater on your heart. I was scared for you!!!
I am seriously glad that my little guy has not figured out how to climb out of his crib! That would scare me to death!
Oh My Lord! I could just not deal with this...I seriously would have a panic attack. How do you manage to get through the day with stuff like this going on a night? You are amazing!
Oh my goodness, that would have freaked me out!
Geez! Bout gave me a hear attack woman! Stop that.
