Waves

I think that one of the best things about being a parent is watching your kids enjoy something that you loved as a kid. I can't tell you how happy I am that my kids love the water.

I love to watch them giggle as they splash around. It makes me smile to watch them pour water over each other. But it makes my heart soar to watch them run and jump in the waves.

The first thing that Hayden does when he gets to the beach is run in the waves as they crash onto the shore.

I so vividly remember doing this as a child.

A walk that turns into a jog that turns into a full throttle run and then crash
into the waves you go.

The coolness that surrounds your body as you are pulled into the water is heaven on a hot summer day.

Feeling the bubbles tickle your skin as you pop up from the water's pull.

Jumping in and through the waves like a torpedo propelled at its target.

Feeling free and weightless as the waves push you to shore.

The rhythm of the waves as they crash on the beach is soothing a lullaby.

The sand in my toes. The sun on my skin.

The water. The waves.

Its summer at its best.

Oh the beach is like heaven to me...except that I live in the desert with no beach in sight!

Oh the beach...how I love the beach! Too bad the closest one to us is a couple hours away and it's not even that nice of a beach!!

Glad you got to breathe in that fresh, salty sea air...there's nothing better!

I think little ones must all be alike as mine go straight for the waves too when they go to the beach.

The ocean is WAY too cold for me! And I detest seaweed.

What an awesome post! Made me a little sad though because it's been on my mind quite a bit how I wish Tristan loved the beach. We just went on vacation and he put his toes in once, that's it. So he gets hot and wants to leave. I hope he grows into liking it like I do.

Beautiful pictures! I agree, nothing nicer than seeing your children enjoy something so much that you enjoy, too! My boys (especially my oldest son)are loving swimming this summer... they love the water, and that makes me very happy! I wish we lived closer to the ocean, though. That's my all time favourite place to swim!

Rocky and I still talk about one morning we went to the beach and there was a family there. They had a little boy about Hayden's age. He ran up a sand dune and shouted "Look how far back I am!" and started running towards the water. He had slowed considerably by the time he reached the water, but the look of joy on his face while he ran was priceless.

Maybe I shouldn't read your blog in the summer. It's making me miss Michigan!

I couldn't agree more!

There is something about taking the kids to the beach (which I, too, loved as a child) that is just magical!

Moose loves the waves, too. I'd never seen the ocean until he had this year. It's really beautiful. So great you get to share that special memory with your kiddos!

My kids are terrified of water...forget about the ocean. Touch sand and they cringe (except Maile). I would LOVE to see them go running into the ocean like that!

We keep trying to plan a beach getaway. I want my child to love the water as much as I do. Of course, I'm also terrified of Jaws, so there's that.

Those pics are awesome!

Awesome pictures- I love how you captured the bubbles. I used to love the waves too. But, somehow, the ocean has turned absolutely frigid. It never used to be...

My kids have only been to the ocean once... and that was when they were 3 and 18 months old! Hannah loved it, but Michaela? Notsomuch.

We're headed to FL in about a week... we'll see how the 2nd trip to the beach goes!
