Music was a bigger part of my life when I was younger. I was very involved in choir and preforming solos. Before kids came around both Jeff and I sang with our church choir. I loved being able to share my gift this way. I felt like I was helping others worship and in turn, I would get more out of the service.
But kids came and my choir career has temporally been put on hold. But that doesn't mean that I have stopped singing.
No, it means that I sing more than ever. I give private shows for the four little people that I am around most.
It is fun to be silly and make up a song to go with it.
Cleaning up toys goes faster when there is a song to get you though.
The car ride is more enjoyable when you can sing your way there.
For the most part, the kids will giggle at my silly songs or even join in in my rendition of 'Wheels on the Bus' when we are in the car. But Claire, well she has her own ideas.
I know that Claire loves to sing. I am told by her day care teachers that at many times during her day at 'school' she can be found singing. But when it comes to singing with me.... not so much.
I guess there always has to be one critic, right.

Claire and our little man clearly went to the same training...he told me last week during Billy Joel's version of Hard Day's Night "LET BILLY SING...NOT YOU"
Neat.
LOL.
Oh my gosh, she's so funny. The little girl I used to nanny for did the same thing. She would NEVER let me sing!
So, I think she's just jealous
mine don't let me sing either... bu they let me sign the songs... which is so safe for me to do while driving...
"Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest"
My degree is in music. I write, sing & play piano so I loved your post today! Have a great weekend!
Claire sounds JUST like Maggie. "Mommy, PLEASE stop singing! I need to listen."
Nathan is just the opposite, he likes to listen to the music and have me sing him songs, at least someone thinks I sound good ;)
My kids still don't like me singing. *sigh*
Sounds like my kids. I taught them to love music darn it!
Cute! We always sing too. In fact when we first started feeding Lucas baby food, many years ago, we made up a song for just about every food he ate. "Peas, peas we love the peas. Peas, pea please pass the peas, ohh how we love the peas."
Little things like that. :)
This is too funny! You even got a smile out of my husband!
I hear that all the time in my car. "No sing" Melody will demand of me! ;) I love the head bobbing in the backseat.
Haha!!! So cute!
I have heard that request many times myself. Usually it occurs during the pick up line at the school. I just can't help myself.
My son has asked me to please stop singing before.
She is TOO cute! Guess who wants to be in charge? :)
Oh I had that one too!
Honestly, I thought you should've won an Emmy.
OMGOSH! Do we have the same daughter????? Emma does the EXACT same thing! She hates if I sing. LOL
And, like Claire, it does not matter what i sing, even if it's along to the radio, and she tells me to stop.
GEEZ!
Don't feel too bad. Jonathan won't let me sing or dance. Whatever. It's not like he's some Frank Sinatra. Sheesh.
So funny!!! Taylor does that to me sometimes too. Only, he's not so cute about it. It's more like, Stop!!! I don't like that sound!!!
Lovely children, aren't they?
Hi again. I am having an Awards Bash and have something for you. And you can sing all you want.
you have been awarded! come check out my blog and my ann claire loves to sing too - even tho she's only an itty bitty thing
my oldest son gets ANGRY if i sing... i swear he's giving me a complex!! but man, i love when kids sing..its just always makes me smile!
Me too! The kids don't appreciate a good singer:-)
Well, what does she know? She's just a little kid! And my son is always telling me to stop singing too if it makes you feel any better. But I know I'm really bad!!! And I'm always making up nonesense songs for him -- I think I have a talent (for the songs ... not the actual singing part).
Oh my gosh you have the best accent!!
That scene looks awfully familiar to ones we have around here.
