The Siren Song of Golf

When a person goes on vacation, there are lots of things that can make you happy.
Just being away from the pressures of everyday life is one.
Having someone wait on you hand a foot is another.
And having a chance to relax and do somethings that aren't normally part of the daily routine is probably the biggest lure of a vacation.

For me some of these activities include, reading a good book, going for a swim, getting a message or if I am really lucky just sitting and staring at the wall.

But for a man the activities of vacation are a little different. For a man (I am totally making a general assumption here) the most prized activity on a vacation would be a round of golf.

I am convinced that it is just in the male DNA to want to play golf.
Jeff is not a big golf player but that didn't stop Hayden from answering the call of the (putt putt) golf course.

He even wore the appropriate shorts for the occasion.

Now, golfing is not an easy sport to manage. Is it actually quite difficult to try and get that little white ball into that hole way down there.

And it is especially difficult when you are dealing with these 'handicaps'.

Your younger brothers who too can't resist the siren song of golf.

Mini golf is so much fun! They are so intrigued with the mechanics of it all, aren't they?

The guys in the office....they always play golf. It is an addiction or something. Hubby tried it but he stinks, so no more golf for him!

I love miniature golf! Just don't let him out on a real course or you'll have to sell a kidney!!

SO CUTE! My hubby tried playing golf once but gave up - he said it was fun but WAY too expensive for our budget! LOL

The madras...there they are! I love those types of shorts on little boys. Such fun.

Oh, and I think that this post is oh-so-true, Jen. My father-in-law introduced our son to golf...even gave him his own set of Snoopy golf clubs.

Not. Good.

Luckily my husband is not a big golfer, but my dad and father-in-law are both insane for it, like they go every day! I don't get it.

Mini putt is just that much more fun when you've got the littlest ones keeping things moving for you, even when they're supposed to be stopped!

Looks like Hayden was taking it all in stride, though. :)

Oh, my husband has been hearing that call too. Great idea to get the kiddies involved- if only Brian and Joseph could go and golf while I nap...

Hubs likes to play... once in a great while that is... come one now... can you find a sport that doesn't eat up an ENTIRE day?? Drives me nuts.

Mini golf on the other hand... I love me some mini golf...

Awe - sweet boys!

We just happened to locate a very cool mini course here - we're there almost every other weekend now. Not the same as putting at the shore, but still very cool.

What a great way to spend the afternoon with the kiddos. I love how "just staring at the wall" sounds like a vacation for a busy mom :)

How cute are your little men?

Great pics. I am a very competitive mini golfer. I think that is probably a bad thing.

Okay, I have to admit that I LOVE golf. If I could ever get a round of golf in on a vacation, that would be awesome!! ;)

Very cute.

My husband's a big golfer so I'm sure we'll be hitting the putt putt course in a few years.

I am awful at golf.

Last time I went I just made fun of the clothes and irritated my husband.

My son ADORES mini-golf! We went to Myrtle Beach, SC -- which is kind of the mecca for mini-golf -- and played a different course each day and he just loved it. It is so funny to watch his technique though!

My husband AND my children have this DNA. It's all good with me, especially when they wear the cute shorts. :)

How fun! Yes Golf does seem to be a male thing, thought I must admit I like playing it to, the real Golf, not just the mini versioin

Those pictures are adorable. I'm soooo not fun. I feel bad for my kids when they get older. I hate games and even get bored with the Wii. And I'm terrible at miniature golf. Hopefully my hyper-competitive, alpha male husband will make up for it. (or just create another undesirable extreme...)
