Pancakes for the Cause

Every Saturday morning, Jeff makes pancakes.
He is really gotten very good at it.
He makes pancakes to celebrate holidays.
He makes pancakes to help bring in the of change seasons.
He makes pancakes special for each child, especially Hayden.
And he even has done a how-to post for all my lovely readers.

But today, the pancakes took on a different meaning.
Our pancakes today were made in honor of Jeff's Mom.

You see earlier in the week, Grandma B found out the she has a tumor on and around her liver and bile ducts. And while we don't have the official results, all signs point the fact that she has cancer.

It is amazing how in a phone call, in a moment, life can change.

So what kind of pancake did Jeff make to honor his Mom and this new challenge?

Well, Liver Pancakes of course.
With a side of Gall Bladder.

We LOVE you Grandma B.
We are here for you no matter what.
Cheering you on, holding your puke bucket and supporting you all the way.
No matter what happens!

Wait... those are just liver-shaped pancakes, right? They're not made with actual liver?

Whew. Glad we cleared that up! ;)

Now, on a more serious note... will be saying a prayer for Jeff's mom. And for you guys, too.

I'm always impressed with y'all's pancake shapes, but wow, umm, those look a little scary.

I'm so sorry to hear about Grandma B though. She's got a great family to support her though and she will kick that tumor's butt!

What a lovely post and a lovely approach to the vagaries of life. When life gives you lemons, make...liver pancakes?

I have to say...I don't think I would want to eat those particular pancakes. They look a little too "on the money" for my taste.

And yes...life does change in a moment ... I've been facing that for the past few weeks so my thoughts and prayers with your family. I hope Grandma gets through this well.

I laughed at those pancakes - despite the circumstances. God Bless your mother in law!!! I'll keep her and your family on my prayer list!!

Prayers for a speedy recovery for your mother in law. I am a little grossed out by the pancakes but I can see the humor in them. Some days all you can do is laugh.

Haven't been over to see you for a little while, sorry to hear about Jeff's Mum.

I'm now very glad that I shared countless college dinner tables with friend who were studying anatomy - It has hardened me up a tad when it comes to liver pancakes! :)

Oh that is stunning Jen. Please be assured that we will keep her, and your and Jeff's family in our prayers.

I off course, tried Jeff's pancakes but mine did not turn out too great.

I am so sorry about your MIL. I hope she will be ok.

I felt bad for laughing at the pancakes, but that's funny.

I feel kinda schizo now, because of it.

But seriously...praying for her.

The sentiment is wonderful, but I hope they tasted better than they looked :-)

Your family is in my prayers Jen.
