Be Careful What You Ask

For a while now, Claire has been tell me when she has a poopy diaper. She is usually spot on every time. I know, I know time to potty train but I am not ready, so we will wait.

As I was buckling her into her car seat, I was surprised by a lovely odor. She had not said anything about pooping so I was not sure if it was her or one of her brothers. I went in for the check and yes, there was a fresh load.

"Claire," I questioned, "are you poopy?"

"Yeah" was her reply.

I carried her in the house and placed her on the table to change her diaper. As I was changing her, I asked her a question to which I did not expect an answer.

"Claire, why you didn't tell Mommy that you had pooped? You really need to tell Mommy."

She looked up at me for a few seconds and then she gave me what I asked for.

"I pooped, Mom. I pooped, Mom. I pooped, Mom. I pooped, Mom. I pooped, Mom. I pooped, Mom. I pooped, Mom. I pooped, Mom. I pooped, Mom.I pooped, Mom. I pooped, Mom. I pooped, Mom......."

She continued until I finished putting her pants back on and I said, "Thanks Claire. I am well aware that you pooped. You are all clean now so lets go."

She looked back and me and gave me a look that said it all. I had asked her to tell me and boy, did she tell me.

LOL! Well you did ask for it! I dread PTing again! I am all for putting it off as long as possible!

Well, so the timing isn't quite there yet. It gives you something to work on, right?

Ask and you shall receive when it comes to kids.

At least, that is the cardinal rule in my house!

I am dragging my feet when it comes to PTing too. I know, I am being a slacker.

Potty Training is not my favorite thing. But it sure beats changing the diapers. I still gag over poop diapers!

Oh, I have a literalist child, too. Though I think she enjoys taunting me with it. Cause I know that by now, she really does know what I mean!

What a beautiful picture of her, though. I haven't started potty training Moose yet. He doesn't seem ready but I think he's getting there. I'm not sure he's aware when he pees and doesn't tell me when he's pooped or peed. :) I'm not in any hurry!

Too funny! PT is not very fun, but the earlier you catch it the easier with girls. Stopping in from Debi's blog to say nice to meet you!

OMGosh! Too funny! LOL

Your post from yesterday, boy, do I know where you are coming from (I am trying to convince Russ to adopt some more kids. LOL)

PS Thank you so much for your awesome guest post!

Awwww, she did tell you, I guess. How funny that she actually admits she pooped! Garrett and Landon just blame each other.

That's so funny! I love her! Anna-Lucia is 2 months older than the triplets and she isn't showing any readiness yet. Yeah sure, she talkes about wearing "big girl undies" but she has little awareness of whether something has gone into her nappy, or is about to.

And right now is not the best time for me to be cleaning up multiple toileting disasters, I don't think.

Oh she is telling you! I am so in two minds as to how to approach potty training twins, but I am wondering if you should not train her first as girls are so much faster than boys. The Little Miss potty trained successfully at 23 months - she was ready, I was not. Apparently if you miss the bus, it gets more difficult.

Jonathan has started to tell me that he pooped even when he didn't. Well, that is an adventure. Or not.

I need to potty train him too but he's decided he'll only pee on the potty for the baby sitter.

Well, isn't that special?

Oh yeah, the famous repeat button. How do you turn it off? Cuz I'd really like to know.

Kekibird said...

From the mouths of babes. And boy does that repeat button get stuch or what?? It's inhuman how many times my son can say something...ugh!
