This is a typical meal time scene at our house. Kids eating lunch, on this day it was pizza and strawberries. No big deal. But there was something special this day. I got the kids their lunch and then took the opportunity to quickly check my email. I heard some rummaging in a drawer and just as I was going to say something about it, it stopped and I got interested in an email.
When I came back into the room, this is what I see.

Hayden had gotten the babies forks for their pizza and showed them how to use it. He was helping them (he stopped before I could capture it) and was encouraging them to keep using it. It just really melted my heart. I think I stood there forever just watching the whole scene. I almost cried, it was just so sweet.Hayden is just really surprising me lately. He is just growing up and maturing before my eyes. He is such a good big brother and is so helpful, in his own way and own time, of course.

Go visit Angie and see who else is feeling Wordful on this Wednesday.

awww that's gorgeous!
That is just lovely. I think it's a wonderful phenomenon. My oldest boy is so good with my youngest girl. It skipped his middle sibling, maybe because they are both boys, I don't know. All I know is it blesses my heart to watch him take care of her.
Now, if you will excuse me, I have to go get some tissues to dry my eyes.
That's so sweet!! Hayden's stepping up to the plate and hitting home runs.
You know what? In another year or two, he can raise them all his own, and you can step back and just watch. hehe
Aww! What a sweetie:)
That is the sweetest thing! Such a cool big brother.
That is so wonderful! And makes me want to have another one. Wait, what am I thinking? Ha, not yet.
That is SO sweet!! What a wonderful big brother. I wish my girls were that nice to each other.
how awesome!!!!
It is moments like this that make it all worthwhile, huh? I love that I am not the only one that serves meals that most adults wouldn't think go together ... pizza and strawberries! Why not? You gotta get that fruit in there somehow!
oh my gosh, jen, that is absolutely so sweet! i love that he took care of the little ones (even if he is still a little one himself). i love it!
awwwwwww *sniffles*
I had some foster kids here for a few months, one was a 17 month old girl. My daughter was such a little mother to her. Totally made me all weepy :)
How sweet! I love watching Trevor being helpful. Now that Tyler will take his paci, Trevor is always trying to put it in his mouth for him! It's too cute!
That is completely sweet! awwwww My heart melted reading about it. :)

3 highchairs? you poor thing!
What an awesome big brother! You will need to tell him about that someday.
Just melts your heart, doesn't it?
What a great big brother. That was so sweet.
That IS really touching. I have felt that way just watching Tristan help himself. Lately, he has been going to the kitch to get his own cup then going to the fridge to get water. It's the sweetest thing isn't it? And to see yours help his siblings is super sweet!!!!
awwwwww! What a good big brother!
Aww how precious!
hayden needs to come here and teach sofie now! what a sweet little dude! and i'm glad other moms do the fab lunch...my kids fav: pepperoni, cheese, bananas and pickles. i don't know that it meets the food pyramid, but makes them happy. :)
That is so sweet! Everytime Grayson cries Aidan runs over to him, strokes his cheek and says "Awww Grayson", or "It's OK Grayson", or "Mommy, sing the 'Grayson Patrick' song to make him feel better". Little boys are just so darn cute!
I love having older siblings... they make great little helpers!
Too sweet! Forks for the pizza? Who knew?

Couldn't you have just watched that scene for hours?!?! Too sweet!
That is one very special and amazing young man.
No surprise. He has a very special and amazing mama!
What a good big brother!
Did I mention that I let my 10 year old make her own hot chocolate the other day? Something she knows how to do in the microwave. Apparently I never went over the no metal in the microwave rule.
Imagine my surprise to turn around from my computer to see fire works going off in the microwave!
Ahhh...what a nice big brother! I was holding my breath before I scrolled down waiting for the fiasco...but it was all sweetness:)
oh - so precious! remember moments like that for when they are all piling up on each other trying to use the forks as weapons!!
That is tooooooo sweet!!
That is great! He is an excellent big brother.
That's so sweet! My 5 yr old nephew helps with his 7 month old sis all the time. And it just swells my heart everytime.
We've been working on the whole utensil thing! It's so fun to see them developing these skills!
Blessings!
Look at those big kiddies! Well done!!!
Happy WW!!! (and yeah to clean meal times!!!!)
First of all, I have said it before and I'll say it again - how do you do it with all those boys?! Ugh!! ;-)
But, clearly it's those moments like this one that remind us how amazing these little guys are.
Way to go big brother!!
Hayden is so sweet to help/teach in this way. I'll bet your heart really swelled when you discovered what he had been up to! :)
That is SO sweet! What a great big brother!!
Awww...that is sooo sweet. Does he change diapers, too?
Oh how cool! My 8-next month year old is such a big sister to her 3 yr old bro now. Tonight at a restaurant, he wanted HER to take him to the bathroom! I think it is so sweet.
