Early in the week, we went to my in-laws cabin. Jeff worked some more on finishing our basement, we now have doors hung, next is trim, paint, carpet and then, YEAH!, we have our play room.
The weekend took us our first ever over night trip. We went up to Bitely were my Grandma, aka Granny, has a cottage. And I am here to report that it was a success. Everyone did really, really well and Jeff and I managed to get a few hours sleep on our brand new, deflating air mattress (it had a hole in it right out of the box).
Hayden spent the entire time in lake, as usual. He also helped Papa make a camp fire, tasted his first s'more, lit off some fire works and stayed up way, way to late.
Jake and Claire enjoyed the lake too. Quinn, not so much but he did enjoy climbing up the deck stairs and climbing down the deck stairs about a million times. Oh, and he was very good at un-planting all the flower pots.
All in all, it was very fun. I am much more confident about our 4 night camping trip coming up in a couple weeks. I also have come to the conclusion that I am a glutton for punishment with all this traveling.
Now here are some pictures, please enjoy.
Looks like a normal packed mini-van right? But here is whats included; 2 coolers, 3 pack-n-plays, clothes for 6 people including an extra 2 outfits each for the babies, 3 portable high chairs, diapers, pillows, DVD player with movies, blankets, dry food, griddle for pancake Saturday, and some other stuff that I can't remember but you get the idea. A ton of stuff. The sad part is this is what the van looks like when we just go away for the day.

Looks like a great place to get away to...My little guy is not a big fan of the water either.
Kuddos for your husband for starting and finishing a project in a week...I've got several started projects around my house that have yet to be finished.
Enjoy your return to normalcy
Wow - all that is in the back of the van??? You are super woman!!
I'm glad you had a good time :)
Glad you had fun! I understand about packing heaps of stuff, but something tells me that with four kids, it would be even harder! We often follow Mr de Elba to lead camps and things with highschool students, and it's nightmarish enough with two kids. Well done!
Wow, I think it's hard when I take my two on trips and they are 10 and 17. We've had our moments on trips. But girl I give you BIG PROPS for doing this.
That van is packed to it's brim and I can't imagine what it will look like when you are go camping for more than one day.
I hope you all had a fantastic time.
I'm impressed with the van load. lol Whew. Packing and unpacking must be a pain. You ARE a glutton for punishment with all these trips. It's going to make living at home seem like easy as pie once you're settled home again.
Glad your basement is now the playroom and completed. YAY!
Your kids are adorable, especially the baby. :o)
Looks so beautiful there. The water looks so clear and inviting. I love the big campfire too.
We used to travel like that all summer long since Tim was an infant. Now that the boys are at an age where traveling would be so much easier (10 and 7) we have drastically cut back this summer. I have to say, the van load looks familiar (I am not a light packer) and that's with only two kiddos--the whole reason we got the mini van when child number 2 happened along.
Once again, if you guys can camp with your four, what am I waiting on with my 1+doggy? They are so stinkin' cute in the water! Don't you wonder what's going through Quinn's mind when he's so afraid of the water? It looks like Claire is a fishy.
It looks like you had a great time - despite the deflated mattress and the insanely packed mini van. I can't believe you fit all of that in there - including the kids!
You are going to have FUN on your next 4 day trip!
It looks and sounds like fun.. .but I'm exhausted just reading about it!!!
Wow! Looks like you had your hands full. But the lake looks wonderful. Isn't it nice when the kids can play outside all day? They come in tired but oh, so happy.
