Hayden is a collector. Every couple of days he will make a collection of something. It is usually his favorite things at the time like, dice, animals, frogs, what have you. And he always finds a container for his collection most often a plastic bag. This is his prize possession for as long as he remembers it. He even has a baby proof hiding place for his collections.
The other day he did something out of the ordinary, he found this container and had to tape a plastic bag on top (so the things wouldn't get out of course).
Since this wasn't the normal plastic bag, I was kind of curious as to what he was collecting.

Lets just say that the container was not the strangest part of the collection.I am really quite baffled by the whole thing.

It consisted of a frog bouncy ball, a yellow block, an over sized Vegas dye, ink pen, paint brush, 3 toy frogs, mint dental floss, 6 starkly fuzzy ball, a d8 (a dye used for role playing games), a pink bouncy ball and 2 pirates.
Now, I have absolutely no idea what he was doing with all this stuff or how he got a hold of it. He would not tell me. 'It is a secret', he told me.
If any of you moms out there with a little more experience, could fill me in with any ideas as to what he is doing with this stuff. I would grately appericate it.
Most of all I am wondering, should I be worried?

Kids just love 'stuff'. My son was the same. Those sparkly pompom things, he had those and I have no idea where they came from! He also had things like a stray domino, keyring with a compass on the end, magnet, plastic whistles, plastic money, eyepatches and - bizarrely - teaspoons!
That is the mind of a little boy... and from my experience, little girls too... they just like .... stuff.
Hah! All cute stuff, nothing to worry about!!
That is too funny! I love the pirates!
My girls do this, too... they have a bazillion purses which they each have to take one whenever we go somewhere. But in their purses you might find any combination of kleenex, lip gloss, a Barbie doll outfit, a Little Pet Shop animal, Polly Pocket doll, stickers, pens, crayons, and loose change... you know, all the essential stuff.
I can tell you from when I was a kid, I loved to have stuff. Tons of it. The smaller and wierder the better.
At first I was afraid it was a living thing in there, maybe the plastic was to keep it inside. Cool collection thought!!
My youngest loves to carry around a black sequined purse everywhere she goes. Doesn't matter what she is wearing, but the purse comes too. And there is no telling what might be in the purse. Could be fruit snacks. Pokemon cards. Rocks. Kitty toys. Just treasures. To her anyway.
Well......my kids collect weird things like this all the time. And I'm worried about them......totally just kidding. Love the variety! :) Makes putting everything away so much for fun for you! :)
I think he is building a space ship:-) Hee, hee, hee.
This is so funny - a few days ago I started taking pictures of Tyler's "collections" too to blog about! Most of them are of outside stuff since we don't have a whole lot of little stuff inside yet - he still puts everything in his mouth! Craig would truly appreciate that he had a d8 in the collection and I particularly think the minty floss is the most curious part of the whole lot...but the dentist would be proud! :-)
MacGyver. This is the only explanation.
If I could have any super power it would be to see into the minds of little kids .. because I totally don't get them sometimes.
But I love their weirdness to pieces! This is just plain adorable!
don't be worried until the therapist says to worry :) seriously, Aidan does some wwwweeeeiiiirrrrdddd stuff...
Oh...I gave you a couple awards on my blog. Check it out when you got a sec:-)
Oh that is too funny.I have no advice since my baby isn't to that age yet...although, she did pull a tampon out of my purse and proceeded to play with it all the while I totally had no clue. Yeah, we were in a full waiting room at the Dr's at the time.

I think it is great. My kindergartener had to fill out an About Me paper at the beginning of the year. One of the questions was: "What do I like to collect?" He had no answer for it. So, just think... your son will have no problem answering such a question if he ever has to. It may come in handy is what I am trying to say ;).
I agree with all the commentors above...It's his "treasure". My girls did the same thing...and still do...the stuff just changes. I would love to hear if you're ever in on the secret and Hayden lets you know what he plans to do with all that stuff!!!
