Just One, Please? Can I Just get One Picture?

It was a nice day and we were at my mom's house. She has this cute bench on her porch and I thought that since the babies were still clean and in their church clothes, it would be nice to get a picture.
I just wanted one nice picture of the 3 of them. Just one. Is that too much to ask for?
Apparently.

"Jacob, Jacob! Turn around and look this way. Claire, pretty! Don't touch the flowers. Quinny Quinn, stop crying and look at Mommy."

"Claire, take the ball out of your mouth. Jakey look over here. Look at Mommy. Yoo-Hoooo!!!"

"Babies here, here look here. Jeff can you help? Do something to make them look. Do a little dance. Look, babies watch Daddy dance."

"Jacob, NO! Sit still. Claire put the ball down, throw it down. Quinn hands out of your mouth. Come on babies...
*sigh*
I give up. I guess this is as good as it going to get. Jeff, you can stop dancing."

I know it always seems like that at the time, but years later when I look back at those pictures, I am sooo glad I have them. They show the truth and youth and show how the time really was then.

I think your pictures are precious!
I wouldn't change a thing!

Becky's right. These are the "real life" pictures, the ones that are so much better than the portrait posed ones from JC Penney. Frustrating, yes. Adorable, yes. Gonna make the cover of Parenting magazine? Probably not, but really, who wants to be that famous?

God love your husband for supporting you in your photo op quest. And you for trying :)

yea, trying to get a picture of more than 1 child smiling and looking all at the same time is pretty near impossible!!!! I gave up years ago! I even gave up on paying a "professional" photographer (if you can really call the teenager at Sears a professional....) because they don't do any better a job!

My kids - still - are difficult to work with when it comes to pictures. They always want to look off to the side. Or POSE in some strange form. but when they were little, uncooperative was an understatment. And I just had one at a time to deal with. Oy vey...

Mine are still difficult to cooperate when it comes to getting a decent picture. Usually one is making a weird face or looking anywhere but at the camera.

Thank goodness for digital cameras!

But these pics are still adorable :)

This type of picture is always my favorite. It use to really frustrate me that I couldn't get them all looking at me happy long enough to snap a picture. Now I cherish this type from the past. It shows so much more of their personality and all the other little things you will miss about this age.

Yep, in later years you are going to be so glad that they show so much of their personalities, but I get just wanting one picture where they are all looking at the camera. All smiling at once would be nice too! :)

They are so adorable though. So good of you to try, but the posed ones are really the ones that do not tell who are amazing kids are.....these do!

I took your "Where am I" idea and posted it today. Check it out.

These did end up really cute though in spite of the difficulty. They'll laugh at it later.

Way to take something frustrating and make it just adorable!

I just got caught up with your blog today. Your kids are so cute and I love hearing about your daily activities.

You are supermom!

This is why we have Photoshop. (Now, if I could just figure out how to use it...!)

hahaha Your commentary is hilarious. The last photo is the best, but you should put them all together in a collage, because it's so funny. Cute little ones.

Jen... this reminded me of a blog post I did earlier in the year (see link below). Your post will help exercise the stomach muscles with laughing - mine is more of a tear jerker. Good to see you are keeping your sense of humor!

I think the photos are really cute and you got some nice ones. What fun will it all be if they all sat perfectly still?

Kathy (Craig's sister) and I tried to get some pics of Tyler and her 2 boys together. By the end we were sweating and exhausted! I have never really taken Tyler anywhere to get his pics done except newborn - we just always do them and then photoshop lighting, shadows, etc to enhance. But after trying to get a pic of the 3 of them together - I decided when we have more, that almost ANY price is a price worth paying if you can get 1 shot with everyone looking @ the camera. :-) These are really cute!

LOL! Trying to take a decent photo of my own children is like herding cats ... I can totally empathize.
