Learn Something New Everyday

Earlier today, Quinn and Hayden were upstairs playing. I heard a lot of thumping and bumping but everyone was laughing so I let it go.
Later, I walk up stairs to get PJ's and go into Hayden's room and find chewed up apple pieces every where. I calmly go back downstairs and ask Hayden what he and Quinn were playing?
Hayden: "We were playing a game called Apple 5 Shoe Joo."
Me: "What is that?"
Hayden: "Its a game where the apples come flying at you and you have to run and hide from them."
I went on to explain that this is not what we do with food and he should not do that again or he will sit on the naughty chair. I look up and Jeff has a smirk on his face. We walk into the kitchen and I question him.
Me: "What? I did not go up there because there were laughing and having fun."
Jeff: "You know the boys are about the age when there is a lot of thumping and laughing going on, it usually means that they are doing something bad or killing something."
Me: "Oh"
Jeff: "Yeah, you should just always check."
Again, I have no idea what I am going with all these boys. I just don't get it but I have a feeling I better get it soon.

Well, at least you have to give him full marks for originality and imagination.

So where does Apple 5 Shoe Joo come from. Where were the shoes and what is the significance of 5 and why did you not quiz them on these clearly very important questions!

Gotta give em credit for originality! And I'm glad that your boys are a little older than my son, as I can learn plenty from you!

Yeah, as the oldest of 8 kids, 3 girls and 5 boys, I can guarantee you, they will make you quite quick and creative. And possibly a little grey on top ;o)

Tara, I wish I could tell you what everything in the name of the game meant. I asked him but I would not give up the information.
This is were I think that name can from; apple for the obvious reason, 5 b/c the baby movie that was now just finished counting to 5, shoe b/c he was chewing on it and Joo b/c he likes to try and rhyme things.
Thats the best I got.

I just laugh that you were the one to find it out - not your husband. Mine would do the same thing...

How creative!!! At least they were using their imaginations! :-) Well, @ least Hayden was - Quinn was sort-of along for the ride :-) I have just 1 boy - but I have this feeling for some reason that our others will be boys....all boys...maybe not....even before Tyler I just thought God had decided it is all boys for us....we'll see....if that's how it happens for us, I've already decided the "No blood, No foul" rule should come into play and be my motto! :-)

Creativity is an important skill! I say to pat yourself on the back for being such a great mom and teaching them such important skills--or rather, letting them explore and develop their own skills--and get back to blogging! ;)

ROTFL -- well, he definitely gets an A in the creativity department! LOL Boys are so funny! My friends that have boys tell me how they are ALL over the place ALL the time finding games to destroy things...and my hubby really wants a boy. LOL Boys are so fun though. THey keep ya on your toes, huh?

Maybe you could turn it into a lesson for correct behavior by making it into Egg 5 Shoe Joo - no, that won't work. Maybe Cheerios 5 Shoe Joo - no, you'll never find all those little circles. Maybe apples aren't such a bad thing after all.

Cute story. Enjoying your blog.

As the mother to 11YO and a 4YO boys ... ALWAYS check.

I've lost some valuable posessions in the past 11+ years as a mom.

As for the 5 shoe joo, can't blame them for creativity, but a mess, yes, blame away!
