Day on the Farm

Since it is fall (and everyone else is doing a farm/pumpkin patch post), we thought that we would take that kids to a farm to pick some apples, get some pumpkins and just have some good 'ole family fun.
Well, we did have fun but were not able to get apples (the tractor that took you to the orchard did not begin until 1pm, we were there at 11am) or pumpkins (they had signs that said their pumpkin crop was terrible aka there were no pumpkins).
Regardless, we did find some things to keep us busy. The kids had fun but the place was extremely busy and a little overwhelming (and we were there on a week day). It turned out to be a little too 'commercial' for our, meaning the parent's, taste (the kids didn't care).

The best part of the trip was the little pedal cars on the race track. Hayden had so much fun running and pedaling the cars.
And I must say that was the best way ever to exhaust a 4 year old.

I just love his smile when he wins or maybe its because Daddy finally stopped and he could stop running around. No, its because he won, he never stops.

What a week. A zoo with no animals. And a pumpkin farm with no pumpkins. My husband bought this huge pumpkin at Sam's and put it in the corner here in the kitchen. I wonder if he will remember to carve it...

No pumpkins? Isn't that the orginal draw of such a trip? I don't remember there being anything else but picking out pumpkins and a hayride when I was younger.

At least you can count on a farm to have animals available to see on a weekday! What a weird zoo...can't get over that one.

So what you're saying is you are 0 for 2.....no animals @ the zoo and no produce @ the farm :-) It looks fun though with the cars, rocking horses, and sand pit with trucks!

Ok, HOW do you get Claire to keep the little pony tail in place?

Peanut absolutely refuses to let any cute hair-do last longer than 5 minutes ... TOPS!

I couldn't get the video to play :(

WHAT? My mom always told us all the hard work there is on the farm, no running water, milk the cow...all this time I never wanted to go to the farm. Forget that, I have decided to become a farmer just because of your post.

What kind of a pumpkin patch has no pumpkins? Bummer. Love the pedal cars, though!

Looks like they had fun. Too bad there were no pumpkins or apples!

I think it's crazy how commercialized pumpkin patches have become nowadays!

NO PUMPKINS?!? What kind of operation they running there? There some kind of pumpkin shortage nobody knows about? Anyway, we did the pumpkin festival/farm thing and had a blast. SO commercial but still very memorable!

Have a great day!

Hey Jen - don't take stuff like this for granted. We have fake pumpkin patches where the pumpkins are shipped in and cost around $8-10 for a good size one. It looks like a lot of fun. I can't wait until Lola can do this kind of stuff.
