It's a SITSa-hood

Today is a very special day. It is a holiday, no not Columbus Day well it is Columbus Day but I am talking about a bloggy holiday. It is a very special day (prizes are involved) over at The Secrets in the Sauce. What follows is the story of how I found SITS and what it means to me.

This summer, I was lurking at a blog and there was this new button up in the corner. It was a cute pink leopard print button, and the words on the button said, 'Secrets in the Sauce'. To be honest, I thought it was a blog about cooking. I love to cook so naturally, I clicked on it see if there was any cool recipes over there. Well, there was not any recipes but something else that changed my blogging life.

I started blogging when I was in the hospital, pregnant with the babies as a way for family and friends to be updated on how we were doing. I really didn't know what blogging was. Jeff and my sister told me it was like an on-line journal. I got every few comments and didn't know if any one read it or not. But I found that I like the out-let that it gave me. Writing helped me put things in perspective. So even after the babies were born, I continued writing.

I found a few friends that blogged and I began reading other blogs of people that I did not know (aka lurking). I thought that I was being naughty, looking into their lives and such. But then I discovered SITS and was let in on a little secret. The secret to blogging is supporting each other by leaving comments. I discovered that it was alright to read other people's blogs and that they actually wanted you to read their blog. I also discovered that I liked people reading my blog and I liked reading what other people had to say about my posts.

So then things changed, well not a whole lot, I had some new reasons for blogging. It was something that I enjoyed but also I could entertain people and it was a way to connect with other people, especially other mom's. And from there a sorta of sister hood formed with the people that I met through blogging. Being a mom can be a very lonely job. You are home all day with kids that can some time make you want to pull your hair out. But if I am feeling sad, frustrated, happy, excited, anything, I can jump on-line and find some one who knows what I am going through. People can empathize with me and leave support in the form of comments.

It is just so awesome to feel accepted, liked and understood. It is also amazing to connect with other women in this way. Women from all walks of life and all over the world. It is so much better than the phone because on the phone you may not be able to finish a thought and life gets in the way and you have to go. With blogging, the same thing can happen but you can leave and come back when life settles and everyone is still there.

SITS is all about helping people find each other and helping people get support. It was the central hub where I met so many amazing bloggers, so many amazing women. It is a place where I and others can shine.

So you might have guessed that I am a huge fan of blogging and that I love SITS. And today is a very special day at SITS. It is sorta of a holiday, were every one can show their love for this little blog that effected me (and I am guessing others) in a hug way. Simply put, it is a day to say, Thank you.

I have met many, many people through this awesome site. But here are the very first people that I met and have really grown to love.

Givinya de Elba, my very good friend from down under, at Killing a Fly with a Ukulele is Probably the Wrong Thing to Do.

Cristin, keeps me laughing and keeps it real over at Tiptoe Through the Tulips.

Rhea, there are not words to express all the love and happiness that is Rhea at Texas Word Tangle

Maternal Mirth
Oh M&M, I just adore you. You keep me laughing until my sides ache.

Mama Kat, the very best assignment giving, attention craving blogger there is at Mama's Losin It.

These are in no way all the people that I met. There are just so many, and I seem to find more and more everyday. I love everyone on my blog roll and I so enjoy reading and meeting new bloggers. The number I read keeps growing and growing, that I have stopped counting.

Great post! Loved your linkies. And I totally agree that blogging is like having an on-line journal. That's exactly what I use mine for too!

I concur! Being a mom - and a homeschooling mom - my adult interaction is really limited - so blogging has become a necessity to my day.

And it's funny - but some friends of mine from my book club were talking about my blog. And they asked one of the women if she read it. And she said no - that she wouldn't unless I invited her to because she didn't want to snoop! Oh, has she ever gotten the education after that line!

My husband gives me these weird looks because I always say things like "One of my blog friends says..." or "I was talking to my blog friend on twitter.." - I mean, they really ARE friends!. Unless, of course, they're really fat 50 year old internet predators. Hmmm.

I agree with you! SITS is just incredible; a way to support each other through the crazy days of our lives, and have some laughs (and sometimes tears) along the way.

Hard to believe that this time last year, SITS didn't even exist.

Hope you win some prizes today. I am off to bed to get a bit of sleep before I go volunteer at Isabel's school...

You are one of my favorite bloggers. I feel a kindred spirit with you in our birthing of multiples. Granted, you're one up on me, but irregardless, I know how isolating it can all be. I'm glad I found you.

Could not have said it better myself. Except I like 'stalking' as opposed to 'lurking' lol
