So its Writer's Workshop at Mama's Losin' It again and I must say that I was really looking forward to this. I really like this because it lets me stretch my writing talents (yeah, I guess you could call it a talent). I did not participate last week because I was still flying high from all the birthday celebrations and I just couldn't get my brain to write anything.
I was looking forward to this week. I was so impressed when the prompts came up on Tuesday, yeah extra time to think of a post, but there was a problem. The prompts gave me nothing. Usually, I read the prompt and something comes to mind right away but this week, all I heard was crickets. No funny story, no lovely memory, no witty remarks.
I thought, alright, its ok, try not panic just give it some time and the post will come. Think, ponder, meditate, become one with the prompts. I am here to say that I have been thinking about these prompts for 2 days and I got NOTHING! NOTHING!
So I have decided that I am going to tell you my first thoughts on the prompts and that will be my post. That is all I got. Here it is and I am not promising anything good.
1.) Complete the sentence "I'd walk a mile for a ________." and continue writing about it. Oh what would I walk a mile for? There are just so many things but wait, I would actually have to walk a mile? Not going to happen. I would like to just sit and watch all the other walker. I would be so willing to serve some lemonade.
2.) Describe in detail a person who leaves no stone unturned. I don't really get this one and I don't think that I know any one like this. I am having a total blond moment about this one.
3.) When out to lunch with co-workers, you bump into a close friend who refers to you by a nickname. Because of its unusualness, the nickname catches the interest of one of your co-workers who asks for the story behind it. Start your story with, "This may come as a surprise, but ... " and end it with, "And that's how I got the nickname (fill in the blank)." Oh I wish that I had a fun nickname and even better a good story to go with it but I don't. You all know my nickname, its, Jen and it is just what people have alway called me. I was Jenny for a while but I kind of grew out of that one. People at work call me Ginger but that is because one day one of my friends said that I looked like a Ginger. She started calling me that and now some other people do to. See really boring, I wish I could say I am Ginger because of my good table dancing routine but that is just silly.
4.) Write about an intense game of Scrabble that takes an ugly turn for the worse. Well, I have never in my life played Scrabble. I am actually not allowed. I am a horrible speller, as you may have noticed, even with spell check I still spell things wrong. Jeff tells me over and over again that Scrabble is not the game for me. Therefore, I have not played it and will not play it for the fact that I am a very poor loser and I would most definitely loose.
Ok so there. That is the best I got. I am going to close this most random post with a look into my shift at work last night. I had 3 patients, one coming, one going and one creating a poo river in her bed. I was so busy that I actually had to make a damn to contain things so that it would not run onto the floor. Lets just say that I spent the majority of the night floating on the poo river. And don't worry the patient didn't sit like that for long, I just had to deal with life threatening low blood pressure first, priorities people.

Hey Jen, you know we don't mind spelling mistakes! We love to read your writing.
But just let me say I loved that you made a 'damn' for the river of poo. I'd be saying 'damn' too!
Oh yes.. any thoughts of ever wanting to go into the heath care field have now been COMPLETELY banished.
i think thats good work...
scrabble is not my game either!
I love when you talk poo.
Especially rivers of poo.
I have been there too many times to count. Definitely not the finest rewards of nursing. But it could be worse.
I'm not sure how, but I know it could be. We'll talk it about later. Are you working today? I'll call you...
I struggled this week, too, so you weren't alone. When that happens, though, I just change the prompt to suit me... I think it's called 'artistic license' ;)
Good job, though. And rivers of poo? Ick.
Those are some challenging prompts. I like what you ended up with though. :)
And you could totally spin a Ginger story.
I can't spell either. I am forever leaving misspelled comments!
Wow a nurse and a mom. How the heck do you do it? Some of the two most admirable jobs out there. Oh and dont worry about spelling! Im not a spelling snob and most people arn't.
Yikes for that poo river. Part of the job you can't live without, right? You're a saint.
Poo river, yikes!
All I can say is I'm glad my shtick is recipes because I would not be able to come up with posts each day!
Oh, by the way, I am fighting you for Giada as a neighbor from Lulaville:)
A poo river? And it wasn't created by one of your own children? And you still had to clean it up?
I'm so glad I'm sitting here at my boring little desk job right now.
You clever girl.....I actually heard your crickets when I read the prompts. Even though something did come to me it never would have dawned on me to write about why I can't write about any of the prompts. LOL!
I kick ass at Scrabble... I have an odd nickname... I should start paying attention to the writer's workshop...
Sorry about the river of poo... I have many nights like that at work too.... and at home for that matter...
I think maybe "riding the poo river" and writer's block go together. In fact when anyone around here gets sick, I have complete mental block for days.
And the spelling thing, you are in company of another who is Scrabble challenged. I am so grateful for spell check.
Thanks for that visual! Ha!
I liked your post.
Are you a Doctor or a nurse?
Wait... Doctor's don't clean up poo, so they? Don't they leave it for nurses?
After the whole poo river ordeal, I would say a little writer's block is a cakewalk.
"Poo river" ... shudders.
You are a brave soul. A writer's block post (which, by the way, was very entertaining) and a river of poo. Who would have thought those things went together but you made it work.
spelling, smchelling. all you have to do is play someone who can't spell well either (insert your kids here) :D
Those were hard ones. I think that I too would have been sitting there handing out the lemonaide and laughing. The nickname, lets just say that I still owe my brother one for that name. It is horrible and something that gets a smack if said out load!
Sorry about your night - YIKES!!!
You said "poo river."
I love you.
poo river..lol. I am cracked up..
Random is good.
You get A++ for effort, poo river not withstanding.
I don't think there's any minimum on how much you have to write. I think these are great responses! And I could have lived my whole life without that river of poo image. Ew.
Poo River? Ew!
This is my first time with the Writer's Workshop and I had trouble coming up with something too. I blame it on all of the election stuff crowding our brains.
Too funny that you thought of serving lemonaide to the walkers though. You can definitely tell you are a mommy. :)
I had writer's block too! Maybe next week.
I have a perpetual case of writer's block. There is no known cure.
I have a nickname bestowed on me by my godfather. Rattlesnake. It was well deserved.
Scrabble? I love to play scrabble. You would be great against me. Because I am just trying to make words. Like she. Or Door. Or the. I cannot play strategically. And I don't like to play anyone that does. :-)
It never fails that there is a poo issue with pt #1 (or some other annoying little issue) that ALWAYS coincides with some sort of other life threatening issue with pt #2?!?! Even when taking care of the bigger issue (ie blood pressure incompatible with life) there's the poo - waiting in the wings - just to annoy you - then keeping you from the extra charting you now must do on pt #2 detailing how you saved the life!
Ya, I had a hard time coming up with much too, so my post was "eh" at best. But you addressed all four topics! MamaKat is sure to give you bonus points for that! ;)
At least you gave it a valiant effort. It was funny despite the lack of ideas.
Ummm...work was a little distracting?? Gross!
And thanks for your good effort. Sometimes I find the prompts and I think they sound like fun. And then I sit down to them and I'm all ...why'd I choose this???
And a mile is NOT that far. You could do it. Pack up your lemonade stand girlfriend...we're goin on a walk. ;)
