Memory Lane Monday: Music

I was driving in the car when this song came on the radio and it was a total blast from the past. I use to love this song. I would play it over and over again. I would sing with it, dance around, think about a boy or two and wish that I could be in love. The head over heals kind of love that you you totally rushed into and I thought only existed in the movies.

I was a 'teenie bopper' (just 13) when this remix was released. I wanted so much to be in love and be loved by some one. Isn't that was we all wish for, to be hopelessly, madly be in love with some one? I don't know what it was, but when I heard this song, all those hopes, dreams and memories came rushing back. It was so intense, I almost had to pull over the car.

I did, however, crank up the radio and belt out the song. Much to the distaste of the kids, especially Hayden. He kept yelling at me, "Mom, turn is down. It's too loud for my ears. The singing is hurting my ears." Claire followed his example and covered her ears too.

When I heard this song, I was flooded with all the old memories of wanting to be in love and have some one love me. But the real intensity was because I have found that love. I have found the man that I couldn't help but fall in love with. And it is even better than what they show in the movies or sing about in any song.

So do you have a song that brings back all those memories of the first time you were in love? What is the the very best love song? What song best describes being in love?

I miss the good MTV videos that do not give one nightmares.

I loved that song too. Why is it when mom is rocking out the kids think that it is awful???
Mine would be "Every Breath you Take" by the Police. I got my first kiss while that song was playing at a church dance. Can't remember the guy but I think that is just such a great song.

The song that curls my toes with my hubby and me is "Laddie in Red" by Chris DeBurgh. When we met I had a great little hide nothing red dress that I wore and he loved it..... I miss that dress.

That's a great song! I have lots of music that reminds me of certain times and places...but I never remember names of the songs or bands. I'm awful like that.

Diamond Girl - a disco song in the 80's reminded me of a major highschool relationship. And Oh, Baby I Love Your Ways was a fave by the one hit wonder Bog Mountain. So many different songs marked different times. I think I call it a Songery like a smellory. A song or smell that sparks a certain memory. Loved your song choice!

"In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel. I just love that one. Or Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight." Though the sentiment behind that one is not what it seems - it's still a great love song. Or going waaay back, "Smoke Gets in Your eyes" by the Platters. Love that one too.

I do a Musical Monday post and this week I have Erasure up. My favorite era is the 80s so most of the posts I have scheduled are 80s music.

Great song choice!!

Phil Collins....Groovy Kind of Love does that to me.
Funny my kids complain when I turn the music up and sing, too.

My favorite love song is "lovesong" by The Cure. "Can't Help Falling In Love" is a good one though. I can see why you cranked up the radio and were jamming.

Mine is hardly a love song!
It's Don't You Forget About Me by Simple Minds and it really reminds me of my husband (my boyfriend at the time) and the school disco we used to go to.
Ye gods, a lifetime ago!

I get goosebumps when I hear it now. You are so right, music can be really evocative.

This song means so much to me. When it came out I was also about 13 and one of my mom's coworkers lived with us. She had just graduated from hs and needed a place to stay while she worked here in town. She became one of our family. When this song would come on the radio we'd all sing and do sign language along with it. We were all sad when she started college in the fall. After a semester she decided she wanted to move back in with us that following summer. However, she was in a fatal car accident two weeks before she moved in. So this song will always be Christina's song.

I have always loved the song by Garth Brooks, "To Make You Feel my Love" so when my husband and I got married I wanted that to be played when we lit the unity candle. I didn't have the CD so a week before the wedding I ordered it off ebay. My sister and I were listening to the CD and saw there was another version by Trisha Yearwood. I was convinced that I wanted Garth to sing it so I didn't even want to listen. The first few notes she sang gave me goosebumps and I got teary eyed. That song was made for her to sing.

OK, mine was teen angst about having a crush on this boy in highschool. The song is "Nobody Knows" by the Tony Rich Project. I still like the song but it sounds super depressing now...after all, I found my love and married him!

Awesome post! This song reminds me of being on a double date at Pizza Hut (oh so classy!) before I could drive. I think we were trying to see who could put the most hot peppers in their mouth without spitting them out. Even more classy.

My favorite young love song? "Love and Affection" by Nelson, the blonde twins w/ long hair. A boy dedicated that song to me on the radio in 7th grade, so of course that sticks in my mind. I feel giddy remembering!

The song that my hubby and I love is "Sail Away" by David Gray.

Hee, with no speakers I knew I wouldn't be able to hear it,. and with no 'coolness' in my childhood, I wasn't sure I'd recognise the film clip. But I lip-read and knew what the song was even before the words came up to tell me!

A good song.

"We didn't start the fire" was one from when I wanted to be in love. Not that it's a love song, it's just one I liked.
