It Runs in the Family

This is Jacob. I think that he is trying to grow a horn to become a unicorn.

Not really, he just inherited his mom's clumsiness and fell down the stairs and hit the post right on the corner. I am so sorry, Jacob. I wish I could say that is gets better as you get older but it doesn't (Trust me on this one. I am the woman that sprained her ankle twice in a month). You and me will have to stick together and try to be careful.

Don't worry, he is absolutely fine. He was not impressed at the time but some Motrin, an ice pack, his blankie and snuggles from mommy made every thing all better. Until the next time. Trust me, there will be a next time.

Check who else is joining in for Wordful Wednesday.

Ouch. My children are quite the experts at conking thier heads. Just remember that when that bruise goes away, it drains down. So you have some black eyes to look forward to. (Oh, wait. You are a nurse. Nevermind.) Maybe it can be part of his Halloween costume?

Three years ago, Gabe fell down our carpeted basement steps and broke his collarbone.

He's not particularly clumsy, just hungry. He bent down to pick up a stray potato chip (how did that get there?), then went head over heels. I was right in front of him (lucky I didn't fall, too).

Oh, I hate kid injuries. Poor Jacob. It's a wonder they frickin' survive their childhoods, I swear.

DANG - that thing looks NASTY.

I was a TOTAL klutz when I was younger, somehow or another my daughters have managed to stay away from it - THANK the LORD>

I once was in the emergency room for a hangnail.

Ouch! Poor thing. That is always so scary.

When my son was 3 we had to have stitches on his forehead. He pulled on a short bungee cord outside when it was hung up on his riding toy and he snapped back at him.

Poor little guy! I had one of these wanna be unicorns in my tribe as well. Never could heal completely before it was "bumped" again.

Have a great day!

Poor Jacob...that is quit a goose egg! And you are so right...it won't be the last time.

What a bump! Maybe he wants to be a rhino? Shame, glad he is ok. I am also terribly clumsy .

That is a huge goose egg!! Maybe you should round off all the sharp corners in your house and pad everything. Not for the kids but for yourself too! I have the clumsy bug when I'm pregnant, so I'm hoping it's gone now...maybe...

Sarah said...

You should invest in some afflack. That way when one of you gets hurt at least you can get something out of it.

Why is it they always hit right smack dab in the middle of the forehead? OUCH!

Poor baby!

Aw, little man. Inherited the wrong gene there if he's picked up the clumsy one

That is a HUGE knock on his noggin! Ouch. I hope it heals up quickly.

OMG girl. Did he fall ALL THE WAY DOWN? or just a few and like you said he hit the post? I hope it was the latter. Ouchiwawa.

I am sure he was better then you are. Every time my daughter falls or gets hurt, she is fine after a few minutes, but I end up beating myself up for the rest of the day.
Even though I probably couldn't have saved from the every day bumps & bruises.

Seems like you both are doing well, especially if it is a family trait.
Hope he feels better soon.

Ouch!!! I think all kids have one of those a time of two. I just hope that it is not family picture time so that it will be preserved for everyone to see for years to come.....

Oooooooh, poor wittle-wittle man!!

Give him a smootchie from me ... my heart is broken for him & his horn :(

Wow...big goose egg!! Poor little guy; but don't feel bad-- I've got a clumsy one too. For the longest time when she would walk she would stumble over everything (and not at the "newly walking" stage...)

:)

Owie! On the bright side the purple blue matches his eyes. ;)

Hope you are ok too. That must have been rough to see the little guy with a bump like that.

oh - my brow is furrowed for that poor little man! Did it need stitches???

OH.MY.GOSH! That is a BIG ouchie!

Diana said...

Oh, poor little guy!!! It does look quite ouchy - probably not helped by the blue shirt, binki, and eyes which help to bring out the bluish hues in the huge bump from the banister - as a nurse thought, I must admit...it is impressive!!! Don't a blankie and snuggles from mommy fix just about everything?!?! :-)

I'm sure he will apprecitate the pictures when he gets older. You can tell him next time, remember this fall, see it's not so bad! That is some goose egg! I am impressed! I'm impressed how cool you seem. I would have called aeromed and had a ct and mri by now! and some versed for me!

Awwww...poor thing. Yep, head injuries happen. Mine always ran into corners of walls. We're not graceful.

My oldest walked around with a permanent goose egg smack in the middle of her forehead when she was learning to walk until I moved the coffee table out of the living room.

Karen said...

Poor little guy. I have the clutz gene too. He is still darling, even with his owie.

Heather said...

Oh.My.Gosh.

The poor guy. I'm glad to hear he's recouping nicely.

I so enjoyed talking to you on the phone today. Man, we could have such a great time talking shop and drinking coffee, don't you think? Michigan's not that far away...

Hope you are having a good shift at work. Not too many secretions :)

Now that gives me a headache looking at it. When my oldest was 18 months old she fell and gouged her forehead. It required stitches. My children are 30 months apart. When my youngest was 18 months old she fell and gouged her forehead..and she required stitches. We could not believe it..twice!! and in the same place. So glad there was a blankie, and a snuggle from mom to make it better!

CaraBee said...

Oh, poor baby! How did you not absolutely freak out!! My heart would probably still be beating 1000 times a minute. Yikes.

Jaysi said...

OUCH!! My son is the king of goose eggs....I can totally relate. I have a picture of him on my blog a couple of months ago just like this. Hope it heals up quickly.

Thank goodness you are a nurse... I would have been freaking out... Bless him, poor little thing.

I do think you need a break...

OUCH!

Poor baby!! I'm just waiting on Wee One to try to flip down the stairs. Damn that Tumblebus teaching him those gymnastics skills. Combine those with mommy's coordination and it's a scary mix. At least it is for me.
