During the winter it is a struggle to find things for the kids to do all day. Not just anything but new and exciting things. Because we are forced to stay inside all day, the kids get board rather quickly.
One day, Jeff and I got the bright idea to get some tubs of water out so that they kids could splash around in them. They do love the water and we thought that it would be something different and fun. Really its anything that will occupy them for more then 5 minutes.
It was a huge hit! The kids loved it and totally soaked the kitchen.
But Jake had to take it a step further.

But hey, whatever keeps them busy-I totally agree! :)
I'm giggling with delight...what fun!!! Kids...they're wonderful.
Come on over...today I'm taking y'all on a tour of the Texas State Aquarium via photos!!!! See ya later alligator...Oops, I let the 'cat out of the bag'...Yep, there are alligators. One photo anyway.
Happy Wednesday.
I love that he sat in it. LOVE IT!
great idea - looks like a blast!!
My house would be soaked!
you are SO BRAVE-I wouldn't do it, it would get OUT OF CONTROL with my tribe! Props to you!
Wow...you're gutsy. I get nervous when I think of any kind of mess. I seriously need to chill out and let my boys have fun.
that's so cute! my son has done that too!
we call this occupational therapy...it makes the therapists love you and everyone else thinks ur a genius!
Oh, that's a good one!!!
*Note to self, Just put the kids in the tub!! haha :)
What do people do all winter? Seriously, I'm running out of ideas. Love the tub idea!
This is such a good activity for toddlers! You made me miss that stage. How precious!
That is a good idea... Dottie likes to play in the dry tub, with all her toys and pretend she's taking a bath... I love it.
LOL Bathtime! How funny.
Admit it, you saw that coming. I wish we found such joy in simple pleasures. What fun!
LOL. He is so cute! How fun!!
I am having a struggle coming up with things to do inside too! My two year old could handle water in a tub, but my ten month old would make a huge mess.
I am counting down the days until spring.
It is hard to find things to do inside when you've already exhausted most of the good ideas.....this looks like a great one.......in a controlled environment........:)
LOL! Well of course someone was going to sit in it. :)
How cute and fun! I'm grown and even I get bored in the winter, what a great idea for the kids.
Iff oyu give a toddler a tub water...he is going to want to get in. it. LOL
Toooooo funny:-)
I love your kids. Remember, I'm president of Hayden's fanclub.
The beauty of water - it dries!!!
oh wow! what a good mommy! I have to many control issues for this one. haha
I did this with the 3 year old twins that I babysit....same result...both were sitting in the water!
Ha,ha....there is always one of "those" in every crowd. Too cute!
I just want you to know that I got a good laugh out of this! And how do you say no, when all they want to do is play and have fun! Good for you, although I may have been jumping out of my skin a little.
Great idea - I love that he sat in it! I mean of course he did - what else would you do with it - that Jake - always thinking "outside the box" or in this case, "inside the box" Ha! Ha!
ps - I keep looking back @ your picture of your hair - I love the color! - makes me want to highlight mine come next trim time!
LOL! What a great idea!
I think he misses summer! HA!
Very cute!
That is what my boys would do in it!
Very cool idea. My girls would love this. I can see my girls both trying to fit inside at the same time.
Super cute!
must apologize at laughing. i have a wood floor and Noah's daily milk spills make me either laugh or cry.
anyhoo, for a less wet alternative, you can also fill the boxes with dry beans or rice. kiddos love it!
at least he was in it and not pouring over himself (or his siblings)
haha That would have been my boys too. If they can get it in, they will. No matter what.
Nothing paper towels can't handle
That had to be one FULL diaper! I'm surprised there is water left in the bin!
He's too cute!
Now that M has her cast off... she is relishing her bubble baths!
you are such a playful mom. that is so important, i love it!
We actually have this cool thing in our house called a bathtub. It's awesome because the kids can get into it any old time and it's stationary and they can fit in it and what not.
The best part is that my kitchen stays completely dry! The buckets look like fun though. No really. I mean it. ;)
I don't know how you do it, but my hats off to you. And to him to. You gotta love a child who's not afraid to take it to the next level.
this is such a great idea, i need to actually try it!
They are so wet and look like they are having such fun!
I've done this in the summer, but am cold just thinking about it now!
You guys must be the coolest parents evah! I would just put them in the tub to contain the mess!!!!
